Being from St. Louis and hearing about this Linuxgruven scam reminded me of a guy who left our company excitedly to work for the only Linux support company in town.
I did a quick google search and found this comment of his:
Yes it's a scam. The fact is that they count on people not passing the LCA.
They do this by promising people that have no chance of becoming a Linux
admin. Most of the time these are people that can't even use windows
computers.
Looks like they're trying to keep former employees quiet by having them sign NDAs about the company. Luckily a few knew enough to not sign up.
Anyone else notice Tivo's new strategy? First came an "Important Message" that you have to look at before accessing the menu. Previously, this meant announcements like the enabling of dual-tuners.
This last time, it was announcing a contest wherein if you watch Lexus ads, you can get entered into a contest to win a Lexus.
Now, they've started adding pre-taped video segments (filling up my hard drive, I assume) of BMW ads.
How soon before we're forced to watch TV show previews before we get to access the Now Playing List?
I'm gonna wait till someone ports MAME over, so I can play Ms. Pac-Man on guitar.
Would a 5-piece qualify as a beowulf cluster?

What is with the new trend to put headers on every page? Wired (Lycos), ESPN (MSN), CNN (Netscape), I can somewhat understand, whatwith their mergers and partnerships and so on and so forth.
But really, does slashdot need to get mixed up in this? It seems like such a pointless waste of space anyways. I'd like to see the stats on how many people have clicked the Netscape links on top of the CNN page.
Complaining on and on about how Company X won't provide Software X for Linux, followed (immediately upon release by Company X of Linux version) of complete deriding of that software (comparing its features to some previously created Linux software) is not good encouragement for other software companies looking into the possibility.
Not to say software shouldn't be allowed to compete against other similar software so that the best can win, but the immediate, relentless bias towards the earlier-compatible software serves no one.
Pleonasm - A term that is usually defined as the use of many more words and/or phrases than it would seem a person might ever need or require to merely express in a written or oral manner whatever simple idea or thought that person might be thinking.
Please correct the petition to state "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" rather than "Attack of the Killer Tomato's".
It's already extremely unlikely Lucas will pay any attention, but we might as well be grammatically correct in our attempt, so as not to be discarded before he even sees the petition.
Isn't it possible, even likely, that the people cracking the game copy protection and distributing the games referred to themselves as pirates before the Industry did? -----
The problem then would most likely shift from not wanting to cause undue suffering to animals over to being scared of Frankenstein foods. (not commenting on the legitimacy of that fear, just mentioning it) -----

Average American might be a bit more accurate. I wonder what percentage of humans own automobiles.

XP has this feature as well.

There's something a bit scary about this thing hunting relentlessly around for raw materials that it could easily use to enlarge itself.
I give it an escape and 3 years till it's the size of the moon.
Sounds like there's a need for a specific category/icon.
Do you get something cool that I'm missing from holding down shift?

Actually, in the video game you run down gremlins. It's only in the movie that you run down humans.
Possibly the earliest example of game-makers fearing lawsuits.
I'm really more of a Mac person.
Will we get our own Open Source spy software, complete with programs that break the file sharing program if uninstalled (a la Kazaa)?
That worries me a little. Anyone else have views on this?
Mr User #33911 are you not The Real Russ Nelson User #2165?

I think I got a spam the other day advertising just that.

Check the headline: "Reds Deny Spacemen Have Died" headline. I can't quite make out the date, but I suspect it's 4-12-61...

Hopefully they're not going after people with domains (and slashdot usernames) whose initials are GL...
