I never said the ADA wasn't an idiot, to try to base someone's actions on the games they play can be described at least as moronic.
What Would you say if the defense attorney used that as his defense? or is it just because the prosecution used it, it was idiotic? but defense use would make it law? I'm sure the defense lawyer is pissed he didn't get to think of it first! 'I'm sorry your honor, but my client is innocent. His mental capacity was diminished due to his total immersion in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.'
Why hide behind Anonymous Coward? or is it just that's all you are? a coward? or do you feel your point is more valid because you call people names?
as to what i would prefer... I would prefer people taking responsibility for their actions! You do something illegal and wrong? Serve the time! Don't try to avoid it, don't waste taxpayer money prosecuting you. Be an adult, accept responsibility!
Yes, because the guy with the law degree will use every trick and loophole he (or she) knows to get the idiot with the knife off. Leaving the idiot with the knife off to possibly harm someone else.

Can't blame Apple here, I'd rather see their lawyers working on this kind of case than on better ways to enforce DRM. Pre-release versions give you a heads up on software advances and help companies release a better product.
On a side note, it's good to see this guy actually take responsibility for his actions, instead of hiding and blaming Apple.
Exactly! I have been staying away from them because I don't like reading every other day about their patent antics. If more people did this, maybe they'd think before they paid a (patent lawyer) retainer.
however, my suggestion is talk to an employment lawyer (how hypocritical am i?) on the legality of your employment contract. I believe the rumblings in earlier posts about 'any code you ever wrote' becoming your employers property being illegal as true.
I've had friends get out of strictly written non-competes as they were just that, too strict. Non-competes can't keep you from making a living, and signing over all your prior work could do just that.
As someone who lived through 11 years of it, I can say it was/is a pretty amazing worksite. In short, they moved a few miles of raised highway thru downtown Boston directly under ground. Added a few tunnels under Boston Harbor and built a stunning new bridge into town. Now if they can just fix the leaks, it will be quite cool.
Just to be fair, i"m including the text from an phish attempt i received.

I would think that following the butchering of translation from native language to English, would give us an idea of country of origin. I have received other phishing emails where you can tell English is their writers first language.

why can't i buy a TV in Canada for use in Canada (at the summer cottage)? then just bring it home to the US? we all know there are criminals just running around willy-nilly up there in Canada watching and recording any and all the TV they can.;) i just want to keep my TV safe.
oh hell, can't i ever have a good idea without someone pointing out it's flaws? dammit some free ice cream would make me feel better, but those iDownload.com people ate it all.
i live and work about 8 minutes from Canada, so if this is true, i'll start taking orders. of course, i'll be leaving the box there as i'll be just 'bringing my summer cottage TV home for the winter';) when customs asks.
phew! thanks for clearing that up! i was sitting here thinking "what the heck are experties? are they some new fangled thing i'm way behind the times on?"

Who's there?
Amazon...
Amazon who?
Amazon's here to patent this idea...
We're only cynical because people have shown us we're right

online transfer process -- yay, another claim for a patent
If anyone wants to help beat them to the punch, I'll pony up the patent fee cash and we can submit this today.

Imagine public terminals everywhere, allowing access into "the system",
Will George Orwell write the user manual?
...but I have stayed away from Macs since I can't figure out how to use a 1-button mouse. Maybe this will make me a convert?
call me naïve, but isn't having a cable running thru a window be more obvious and obtrusive than thru a wall jack? ;-)
i doubt it would be Microsoft, I'd say Amazon is the more likely serial patenter of common sense.

considering that you are posting anonymously, your presentation of an argument on the use p-names is fallacious.

archivated? I LOVE THAT WORD! SEE? Good things can come from phishing.
I'm going to throw that one into my next app design doc, can't wait to see the PHBs using it.
