    Except for every single pocket pc phone ever made. I have 2 gigs of storage, which is on the low end. 8gb cards are coming out next year, 4gb cards are already out.

    I agree on the browser though. I hope someone ports safari to wm6.

    Hey thanks for the info I appreciate it. The only thing that bugs me about the harmony is that it cant detect if devices are on or off, and if the mx-900 can do that it may be worth the $250.

    It's one thing to pull the "starving student" or "I wasn't going to pay for it anyways" or "it's not theft, it's copyright infringement" card. I would argue it's another thing entirely to make profit as a business by infringing on others work (even though you could argue gates and jobs are guilty of the same thing).

    1) If you consider yourself a moral person, AND if this act is against your morals, then it is the right thing to do
    2) It is difficult for OSS to gain much ground if everyone is just pirating MS
    3) You could lose your job, so you must do a cost:benefit ratio. Are your morals important enough to lose your job?

    I don't know what your setup is (perhaps you're using collaborative apps), but I haven't had word crash since 2003, and I use it pretty much daily. MS may be shit for security reasons, but lately their apps are quite stable. If anything, I've had 10x more browser crashes (at least in FF, I haven't used IE for quite some time) than OS crashes.

    First, the xbox live HD movies are 720p and not 1080p, which negates alot of the bandwidth difference. Second, the quality of xbox movies is actually pretty good, enough so that I don't feel guilty for spending the extra dollar.

    People are going to suggest zelda TP as a replacement, but don't believe the hype. There is too much lag and after playing it for a few hours you will just wish you could press a button, the implementation is 1/2 assed at best.

    At this time I would just wait. I have no doubt that in the future some awesome games are going to come out, but right now it is just collecting dust under my TV.

    I'm running vista on a fujitsu 1.8ghz pentium m, 1gb ram, 4200rpm HD, which should be comparable. It takes less than a minute to boot, and the performance is adequate. I agree with running diagnostics on the machine and maybe do a clean install of vista.

    Hey, what HDTV capture card do you use?
    My cable company (COX) sends all the HD channels over basic cable, and we don't get much over the air, so a card that can use cable seems perfect.

    My student edition of office 2003 states I can install it on multiple computers within the same home (I believe up to 3). Might want to check the EULA, it may be similar.

    I currently have COX internet cable, and would consider going to DSL if COX wasn't giving me basic cable for free.

    However, on any given day I could be legally downloading an HD movie (via xbox or similar services), downloading legally a gig or 2 of pron (I pay $10/month for a service that provides DVD quality rips), and downloading a TV show or two (legal, if you consider timeshifting to be a valid defense). So just by using legal services I'm doing a gig or two a day.

    It would be nice to know what a good safe weekly or monthly number is. It would be fine if they said "100 gigs a month is the cap" but "we have a secret number" doesn't really cut it.

    Some of the problem seems to be with some nvidia cards. The forums are full of people with 7900s (although not all seem to be affected) having issues returning from sleep.

    I JUST did this with a circuit city monitor. The monitors price was $50 cheaper online than in the store, so I simply ordered it from my phone, waited 15 minutes, and picked it up while I was at the store.

    The biggest problem I have with Frys is when returning items I said were broken (and explained the reasoning behind it), they simply mark it "open item" and put it right back on the shelf. I've seen this at least 3 times.

    1) Get a network admin degree at a community college (this is cheap and courses overlap)
    2) Get computer engineer degree at college
    3) Meanwhile get your certificates (optional but helpful)
    4) Get contacts while in college

    First, you can get a decent job with just your certs, but you will have an easier job, have more opportunities, or get payed better with a degree. There are always exceptions to the rule but generally this will be true. The degree will provide more opportunities down the line.

    I stopped shopping at best buy due to an extended warranty fiasco, and nearly everything at my frys electronics is refurbished. Circuit city doesn't really carry much hardware. So I guess that pretty much leaves newegg and tiger direct. They tend to be cheaper but sometimes instant gratification is good as well.

    No I don't, and I agree that is one clause MS should have (like they do with student office), but I wasn't talking about 1 copy supplying a home, I was talking about 1 copy supplying several homes, which was abundant in win98 days. Hell, my uncle's copy of 98 must of been at least on 30 computers.

    ...because in those days 1 copy of windows would supply dozens of people (family, friends, their family, etc). I'm sure it was an even bigger problem for schools and businesses. Now, I'm sure some of you believe that all software should be free or open source, however, I can also see MS's view of wanting to actually get money for their OS. I don't believe WGA is necessarily the best way of doing this, but MS will never go back to "free copies for everyone win98" days.
