I'm running a tablet PC with 2gb of ram under vista and it works just fine. I've had the opportunity to run both XP tablet PC edition and vista on this same laptop, and didn't notice a speed difference between the two in day-to-day tasks. Everything pretty much opens instantly (with the exception of anything by adobe) and I never have any slow-downs or crashes.
I'd install linux on another partition if anyone can recommend a distribution supporting tablet functionality on a fujitsu.
With the exception of homeopathy, your assertion is ridiculous. The NIH has concluded the pain benefits of chiropractic care (when applied to lower back pain), and licensed naturopaths (depending on the state) receive similar training to MD students, although unfortunately some fall under the homeopathic bandwagon.
If you really want to look at magic look at the research behind antidepressants, particularly effexor. Some studies not done by the manufacturer show a ~22% improvement compared to 20% placebo, and while statistically significant, isn't really applicable to the general population. To me, that isn't much better than homeopathy./no I'm not looking up the studies, if you care enough search pubmed
Sorry, but if they are going to be dividing their resources, I would rather them go towards making he game better rather than port it to another OS. Just because a game comes out for the PS3 and not the 360 doesn't mean I have to get angry, and a windows license is cheaper than a PS3 anyways.
Another significant problem is the only macs without integrated graphics cards are the mac pros, although the imacs are decent. The majority of increase in mac marketshare is in the laptop line, which isn't really suitable for anything newer than WoW.
Or you can do what I do and use a docking station, so I use my logitech keyboard/mouse and 21" monitor. My fujitsu t4010 has a 12" screen, weighs about 3.5 pounds, is a tablet PC, and can play Spore and Sins of a Solar Empire on low settings.
A) I agree, but right now I am using a Sony rental laptop with vista with 1 gig of ram and it is painfully slow. B) It still activates way too much C) I meant in general, as any new OS should implement at least some security updates
Well, as a small business owner, I use "treacherous computing" to do full drive encryption, and it locks anyone out of the bios or booting from another drive/device. So I would rather they didn't take it out. If you don't like it so much, contact your favorite laptop manufacturer, but most add it as a feature, not as a spy device.
I agree with most of your ideas, I did wish they had application install like OS X. And vista does have a menu for changing startup programs without having to type msconfig. start->control panel->performance information and tools->manage startup programs.
They can't really do anything else without pissing off a majority of their customers. Lets face it, if they put in a dock or unified titlebar on the top everyone would lambaste them for copying Apple, not to mention there are 3rd party apps that have the same functionality, which may put them in an antitrust situation.
The only annoying thing about vista UI is UAC, and from the article it appears that they possibly fixed that. I was envious of expose, but then I installed Switcher, and while it may not have the same functionality, I'm content.
The only things I would like out of windows 7 is for it to use less resources, improve UAC, and increase security. The last thing I want is a total UI overhaul or total rewrite making 98% of my programs run slower in emulation mode, or not run at all.
As far as I know you can't copywrite game rules, and I am not familiar with this app, so I'm guessing it is so similar they are suing based on trademark.
Blockbuster should institute something where if you rent a game and like it, you can apply the rental price to the purchase price, although I don't know if that would cut too much into their margins. It would make me much more likely to rent a game from Blockbuster though before purchasing it.
Canada also has much lower immigration. You must either have a job that is in great demand, post-graduate education, or able to put down 400k to start a business. Meanwhile here in AZ we have so many people illegally crossing the border that we had to pass laws that make employers verify citizenship before they can be given job, or they lose their business license.
Why would I cite something that is blatantly obvious? Have you ever seriously talked with anyone with a mental illness, short of "did you like the new batman movie?"
"Dogma (the plural is either dogmata or dogmas, Greek , plural ) is the established belief or doctrine held by a religion, ideology or any kind of organization, thought to be authoritative and not to be disputed, doubted or diverged from." -wikipedia
Read anything by Richard Dawkins and you will see that atheism has its own dogma.
The problem is that science so far in treating mental illness is mediocre at best and atheist support groups are nearly non-existent, so anything someone can do go get back on their feet is good IMO, even if it does involve religion (with exception to cults, not in a "every religion is a cult" sense but true cults that require payment for services). I would also argue the dogma of atheism isn't exactly helpful to someone with a mental illness. If there is no afterlife, and your purpose is to make the world better for yourself and others, a person with a mental illness often perceives that they are a significant drain on society, which can lead to depression/suicide/ideation.
Do you know in Vista you can schedule defrag, backup, and autoupdate so they don't pester you? In addition you can select the files and folders that vista indexes. For instance on Friday nights I have scheduled defrag, then backup, then autoupdate. My machine never slows down when I am using it (to be fair I'm using NOD32 antivirus which is pretty lightweight. I imagine a machine with norton on it would bring vista to a crawl).
After the first couple of weeks battery life is pretty similar between vista/xp/ubuntu (I triple-boot on the same machine, my sound card for recording only works under XP).
It seems most people don't like checking their voicemail, but I take it a step further. I don't answer the phone unless the person leaves a voicemail (with the exception of family). I figure if the issue isn't important enough to leave a message, it isn't important enough for me to answer the phone.
Capsela and construx used to be like lego but better. I went into a toys r us recently looking for these as a present for my uncle and it seems they have been replaced by things that require no creativity or thought. It seems Capsela has been bought out and is now has quality control issues while Construx isn't made anymore. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsela http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Construx

they essentially did with sp1. I only get UAC when installing new apps or running really old ones
No, but we do have 32b in Utah, which will last us at least a couple years.

Windows has always been about multi-monitor support rather than virtual desktops. However, I doubt most users care about or use either.
I agree, it went downhill for me once VII came out.

I highly doubt the Wii is 2x as powerful as the xbox, as I have yet to see a Wii game that has graphics that the xbox wouldn't be capable of.

I'm not a big Apple fan, but that is the one thing they definitely did right. Plus their Apple stores have 1-on-1 training for quite cheap.

Ditto, I even have ABP on.
