Explanation: Netscape and Mozilla are just too big, bloated, and annoying. Honestly, I don't give a damn if the source is open or not, I just want a web broswer with a small footprint that doesn't crash, and doesn't churn out pages in some ugly little courier looking font I can't read when I am in Linux (Yes, I know that there are simple fixes for that problem, I just don't even want to be bothered.). Konquerer kicks ass, but alas, it is tied to KDE, so Opera is my Linux browser of choice.

Of course, what really makes me feel bad is that I would LOVE to see a good IE for Linux...

Try $1200. My last employer (The now bankrupt consulting firm marchFIRST.) had 10,000 of them in a Chicago warehouse, because there was never enough money to send them out.

The real loser in this is Herman-Miller, maker of the chairs. When Herman-Miller and its vendors sold these chairs in bulk to all the dotcoms, they sold on credit with NO SECURITY. That means there is no collateral, including the chairs themselves. Now the chairs are being sold out of bankruptcy to other firms for pennies on the dollar, hampering further sales.

Have a client that they can put on their firewall to keep it from escaping to external networks (Or just program it to stay on on local networks.).

There are companies out there that might actually pay for this.

I know all about the differences between a 500Mhz RISC chip with a massive cache versus a 1Ghz CISC chip with a tiny cache, you pretentious fuck. Just because Apple can win a few benchmarks doesn't beat mean that their chips are anywhere near as fast as Intel/AMD chips all around, especially in gaming performance, one of the most important arenas for PC performance. The G4 CPU is a great processor, it just isn't nearly great enough to justify what Apple charges for it.

  8. The joys of idiocy... on Microsoft Appeals Anti-Trust to Supreme Court · · Score: 2

Wow, that strategy of attacking Judge Jackson for running his mouth sure worked out well. It bought them just enough time to realize how stupid it was to not challenge the entire judgement, so now they get to go to a Supreme Court that doesn't tend to be very friendly to big corporations. I guess they are hoping that a few of the older justices croak and get replaced by some of Dubya's corporate cronies in time to save their butts.

Of course, at this point MS is just fighting for time. Netscape has slowly managed to die off, despite Microsoft's arguments that AOL paying too much for Netscape in the DotCom days showed that Netscape was doing fine, and AOL is continuing to hold off switching from IE to Komodo, which doesn't make MS look good. Linux companies are dropping left and right, and game companies that were once very happy to push for Linux are coming out with the fact that Linux games don't sell, pointing out that Linux isn't really a desktop competitor. On top of that, MS is starting to gain server market share once held by Sun.

So I guess Microsoft is making a last ditch effort now, trying to pull a hail Mary victory with the Supreme Court. This should be interesting.
