    So? As long as they are uninstallable taking a $10 line item out of the cost of the devices works better for the consumers.

  4. My recollection is that they use a version of Kevtris's HDMI mod for the NES. As I'm not an EE I don't know the appropriate lingo, but the NES GPU's pin output is intercepted which provides a true digital signal for the graphics.

  5. Take a look at what sites you have open, I've found a couple that for whatever reason end up consuming a lot of resources if they're idling for a while. Otherwise I can't say I've seen any issues w/ Firefox & CPU usage.

    Umm no thanks. Taxi regulation exists so you're not riding around in a death trap, it should be enforced on Uber & Lyft.

    How is their business model failing? Uber & Lyft use the identical model but using an app, you sound like a lawyer from the 90s who thinks that adding "with a computer" to any everyday operation made it novel and worthy of a patent.

    It has more to do with the incompetence of the telcos that any Tom Dick and Harry can fake calls from Google.

    Depends on what you're talking about. Obviously the hacker did something illegal and ought to be prosecuted. However, if a news agency decided to publish the photos then no they shouldn't be sued.

    Courts have traditionally held that public figures have different expectations of privacy than individuals.

    It's still a problem that a public figure can win a massive judgement against a media company for publishing the truth. It's also odd to me that the defendant is required to post a bond in order to appeal.

    They only people I've heard claim Skylake as buggy are Microsoft folks. Oddly no other brand of laptops appears to have any issues with Skylake. So what does Occam's razor say?

    During the early a64 era Intel P4 CPUs were considerably less efficient.

    Talk about not getting it, the entire point of the presentation and demo was to show that their new architecture has equivalent IPC to Intel's best.

    It wasn't benchmarks, it was changing their commercial (as in users pay for it) compiler to ignore CPU flags for non Intel parts and not documenting it, then various illegal behaviour with effectively paying OEMs to not use AMD parts.

    It's adorable that you think companies ever did have loyalty to workers. Companies exist to make money. If loyalty to workers will most efficiently achieve that end then they will be loyal but it's unreasonable to expect such accommodation. People can be retrained but not necessarily for jobs the company has available. Frequently it is better in the long run for both the company and the worker to part ways. If my company came to me and said "you can keep your job if you retrain yourself to be a software engineer", I'd say thanks for the offer but I'll go succeed elsewhere because I have zero interest in doing that for a living.

    Actually that is only true for corporations, true small businesses generally do have loyalty to their employees, its hard not to when the owner knows the employees and their families.

    While Cisco no doubt has thousands of engineers they also have people who are accountants, marketing, sales, logistics, and every other task you can think of.

    Its doubtful any of those positions would be let go because of the switch from hardware to software networking.

    I don't use Google+ but I use hangouts for messaging as does everyone else I know because it's cross platform.

    Wouldn't the weather affect the wireless leg? I'm not sure I went my internet dropping when its raining or snowing.
