  1. A better question - why bother with the PC at all? on id On Linux: Bad News · · Score: 1

  8. Re:The real Loki problem on Porting From MFC To GTK · · Score: 1

You need to stop being so selfish. If you don't want to pay for two games only buy the linux port. The people at loki have to make money, since they can't live off a good feeling inside for just porting it to linux. Games are now getting where the linux and win32 versions are released together in a timely fashion, and in some cases both releases come out at the same time.

Some of these guys work seven days a week, and they don't make as much money in the small linux market as they would if they were working for a win32 game company. After buying the rights to port and etc, they have to sell so many copies just to break even on that title before they get profits. Also Loki games have value adds, they fix bugs in the win32 versions and in some cases add extra features. A good example is Sim City 3000 Unlimited they added scrolly mouse support and fixed some show stopper bugs as well.

If you want games on linux you need to support them with your money or even with help on SDL, OpenAL, etc. You can stop buying win32 games and only buy linux versions - suck it up and only play the win32 demo until the linux release if you can't buy both.
