  1. And what lesson should they learn for Hot Coffee? on Jack Thompson Weighs in on Oblivion · · Score: 4, Insightful

How can user mods be prevented, also how can a developer be held resposable for a non-sanctioned mod (something that would void any warenty on the product)? That is the real question.

The "Lesson" is that Hillary Clinton is a stooge or at least bottom feeding to get conservative votes and people like Jack Thompson have declared war on an entertanment industy accusing it of erodeing our morals. Media reflects our culture not the other way around, "fix" our culture and the desire for simulated violence will go away on it's own.

    Just my 2 cents...

Even now people (and not a minortiy) look at a game like Oblivion and say "why would you play a single player game? You can't PvP or show off your loot." It is really sad when carefully (hur hur bugs... I know) crafted content is less demanded that "Pwning newbs".

If you choose to buy from ITMS you know exactly what you are getting, and while the argument that there should be Linux support for Apples products is valid that does not mean that everyone gets to whine about it... iPods play .mp3s and there are plenty of places to buy unencombered .mp3 music files... you may have to make some sacrifices in selection of products but anyone who is without any windows box should be used to that.

These three combined lead to a social group more easily controlled than the crowd in Julius Cesar.

I think collaborative communities have there place... but in the end developers have to be careful to take the opinions of the community with a grain of salt and most of all use there judgment when filtering the what they say they want and what the demonstrated needs of the users (both active or popular in the community and not) are.
