    Well, it's not like these things are denied in europe. Some dumbass politicians just feel that censorship will do anything to curb this.
    The end result? Nobody dares to discuss these things in public forums and the racists themselves set up private forums in which they ban anybody showing dissenting opinions. Great going.

    The only other use for HDTV at present is the XBox 360 and next year the PS3. That hardly seems worth it either.

    Don't forget that the original XBOX supports HDTV too, many people seem to forget that when talking about XBOX 360.

    It's free (as beer) and does a decent job (has plenty of manual ways to remove all sorts of IE nastiness) and pretty much annihilates anything when coupled with spybot. However saying that MSASW is good is like saying the fire extinguisher that was given for free with your brand new Ford pinto is good.

    Ah yes, but there's still the issue of maintaining the whole rebate system. Having some people to deal with the mail, check the codes, prevent counterfeit rebates and resolve customer complaints must cost quite a bit in the long run too.

    The big lie that the media and attorneys general want you to believe is that all the retailers and manufacturers are crooked and the reason [they] do rebates is breakage, which is people not turning them in.'

    So WHY do they do it then? Get one tenth of a percent interest? Right.

    Maybe they will soon spin it as some form of corporate social security, all the people who have more time on their hands (students, unemployed, elderly) get discounts.

    Imagine if electricity was not a public utility but a service offered by two or three price-gouging regional monopolies. A quick comparison of US broadband penetration and Europe's (largely) socialised system demonstrates why these sorts of projects are needed.

    Well, socialised internet connectivity is not as common in Europe than most americans think. Forcing telecoms to compete by making them lease their copper etc. has worked wonders.

    Considering the US has way more money to spend on this being "on par" with some poorer countries is not enough especially when a large chunk of the graduates are not USians.
