How can it be a dud for the storage industry? Hook up a couple of these and you won't have to buy more for a while, I'd hope.
But seriously, how are they mesuring the quality of year that it will be? By just size, maybe you're right, but then again, you could just hook up as many SCSI drives as you'd like, and when you run out of those, create yourself a SAN.
Uh, let's just say that you actually are using 135MB RAM for firefox... let's compare that to my system right now.
three tabs open in firefox -> 33168KB three windows open in IEXPLORE -> 32788KB
Wow, that seems quite close... but you know what? For the added security that firefox brings, I don't mind the extra meg or two of RAM that it takes.
Oh and by the way, in IE, where's my mouse gestures, gmail notifier, foxytunes, smooth mouse wheel, various dictionary lookups tools (top right, beside the address bar), and countless other extensions? Pretty sure that if IE had all that stuff it would take up plenty more space that firefox
communists societies are controlled by an elite few (M$), whereas freemarket societies aren't really controlled by anyone, and it's kinda jsut a free for all...
this might be a little off topic, but i just never really understood the whole "linux is communist" statement. it seems that a microsoft is communist saying would make more sence.
they use the media to twist their news into glowing media coverage. they can totally annihalate a company and no-one seems to care, after all, if everything is controlled by one person, it's better. good thing we have a good leader, karl balmer.
sure he took back his comments, but what would of made him think that in the first place? you'd think for a "programmer" (i use that phase _very_ loosely here) he'd have more logical reasoning skills.
by the way, i just picked myself off the floor after lmao
what i was saying however, was that linux has an incredible amount of power, and that's why you use it (for the most part, in networks, as servers). You would never buy a dumptruck becasue of the seats, you'd buy it because you need it.
and a side note to the mods, my post wasn't ment to bait flame... or to be funny. it's just a metaphor, perhaps a little insightful, but that's about it.
I know what you mean, it is a powerful tool to attract new linux users, but beyond that, shouldn't the focus move more towards better apps?
I guess it just comes down to what people like to code. Some like to code pratical, easy to use applications such as postfix, neomail, and gambas.
Others however, like to make flashy looks-good-on-your-desktop things, and that's ok. It's just that it's generally an easier sell if it can do more things than look better IMHO.
here's the torrent of it

It's kinda like having this huge, powerful dump truck then saying how pretty the seats are...
Doesn't do much for thier credibility.... although I personally think that Fedora is awesome.
