So was there any useful info in the article? I'm sure there was a very cheap system for solar cell manufacture starting up in Wales, i think the company was US based but probably got some tax breaks for siting in Wales, G24i or some name like that?. The G24i cells were only about 10% efficient, I seem to remember hearing normal silicon based cell are around 25%, expensive galium arsenic cells 40%? (all those figures are probably wrong). Important things you normally never see in any article, How does it work, cost comparisons, efficiency, manufacturing methods. All that is normally said in an article is the equivalent of a fart in the wind. I have absolutely no real knowledge of solar energy, but as far as my high school science tells me, probably the best way to efficiently harness energy from the sun is via the biotech route. I would think some enterprising genetic engineer could splice some n345 rna codon for chlorophyll with the Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) zymurgation codon, culture it into a trifid type plant that directly synthesizes either ethanol or hydrogen gas. Far more efficient than the losses involved in charging batteries and much easier to store and transport, Fuel cells can then be used for electricity production or IC engines for motion. A data mining system for the government to track the thoughs of the populace.

I cannot think of anything google does that does not collect data,
mail (they can see what your saying to who), maps (they see where you are thinking of going), search (they see what you are intrested in), books (they see what books you are thinking of buying). etc....

All linked back to the MAC address of your network card, if were to delve into the venture capital firms involved in their rise you would see suspicious links to NSA and CIA front groups.
The next stage in the companys plans are google RFID.

Their search results seem to be getting less relevant as advertisers try to game the system, yet google are not improving their algorithms very well.

How does this help the pixel buyers?

I still don't understand how some of the search engines work?, but don't they rank sites based on anchor links?. The entire site is coded in javascript using map area links, does this mean that sites advertising gain no pagerank increase by their adverts?.

The advertising is not targeted or relevant to any narrow area so will not help drive useful traffic to the sites?.

Only useful for gaining better pagerank by being on a high ranking or relevant site, but does it really help?

This is a brilliant idea if and only if:
    1)it helps the advertiser or
    2)helps the site owner

If the advertisers gain no sales (the bottom line) then the advert is wasted expense.

If the site owner has really sold advertising space (the bottom line) then he has succeeded but maybe he is just building hype in the hope he will sell pixels?

Good luck to the site owner, but I have to say I would not buy pixels.

Though his skill at generating hype is admirable.

If you can't avoid the the spam sites you're not using your search engine correctly. SEO spam results(such as word lists) are really only gaming the lowest common denominator, and can generally be sussed from the google summary. We did some consult for a large PC manufacturer and the suggestion that were made required more expense than was feasible.

Basically lots of acoustic absorbtion materials adds to size and weight (they didn't want to go there).

special air flow ducting system(adds alot to size and made manufacturing/assembly more expensive)

removal of the moving parts (would require cooler/efficient power supplys and processors, that add to expense)

Basically manufacturers are not looking at making PC's quieter due to diminished return on investment as it's not really a selling point.

The simplest way to get a quiet PC is to buy an epia fanless system and use flash disk instead of HD and have a server/cruncher under the stairs. Alternativly spend lots of time and effort sealing and padding out your case with acoustic damping materials and ducting the fans correctly and end up with something worse than the epia.

I know what option I would take unless I really needed to have a more powerful PC.
