Since you are living in Morocco, any idea of how to make inexpensive calls to Morocco from North America. It looks like the moroccan telco is practicing very high rates to make any incoming call to Morocco. Even net2phone commcentre is expensive to morocco from northamerica (us$0.50 per mn). Maybe this is also linked to the price of local calls in Morocco?
First, Ainu people are not Europeans, and are not even like Caucasians. They are more like native Americans. They are the native people of Japan, with a language that probably has polynesian origins.
Second, let us think a moment about the SilkRoad, a road of trade between China and Europe during the MiddleAges. No Chinese people were coming to Europe, and no Europeans were doing business in China. Who else was then doing the trade and the exchange of products between Europe and China?
It was the Arabs, who were a very advanced civilization at the time.
Third, the provinces in western china are majoritarily muslim and have had links to the Arab world long before the Europeans (which only makes sense since they were neighbours).
Fourth, no idea what was happening in western china before the Arabs (650 A.D.), but I would not be surprised if they had contacts with other Caucasian people in the region that were not European: to me, those Caucasian were probably middle-eastern or indian, and not European (which is obvious if you look at the geography of the region).
totally agree with you.
I think this post is really BS.
It sounds good and nice, but it really is total BS.
What the hell does the right hand in the Snell-Descartes law have to do with the actual phenomenon?
You don't need a Cartesian co-ordinate system to model things, not even mathematical things. All you need is a metric (refer to mathematical topology and all the theory out there based on a "simple" metric...).
It is amazing what you can do with just a simple metric !
I live in Canada and I can tell you that what you said is damn right. If you earn more than 60k (canadian), which is not hard if you are a techie, then you are in the maximum bracket for taxation. And, here in montreal, you will be taxed around 50 % if you are single, plus 15% taxes on anything you might purchase... Sheesh, that's a damn lot.
F2k was boring and it was a total waste of time and resources to see it in a IMAX movie theater, especially for the 40 or 50 year old Mickey sequence (really bad resolution and colors). I wouldn't recommend this movie to any grown up. May be good for an 8 year old...
I looked at live365.com and it looks like you need to run NT or mac to be able to listen to their channels... I could not get it to work just by modifiying the MIME types of my netscape browser under linux. Did anyone manage to get this done?
Access is more expensive in low-wage countries because usually they happen to have no real infrastructure, so the cost of being connected to the net is usually large (in absolute dollars!).
Roblimo, a little culture about the rest of the world is not a bad thing...
You are completely right but with all the hype, it took me a long time to figure this out. I would have hoped that this would be clearly stated in all the books on neural nets.
>>"The power grid is designed to deal with 50/60Hz frequencies only".
I fail to see your point. How about frequency modulation? How about a signal transmitted in frequency that has an average in time that fits with your 50/60 Hz sinusoidal curve?
I think the idea is good. The only thing is that in theory, practice and theory are the same, but not in practice...
This article is just confusing. Anyone out there who can give an honnest description of this whole thing in mathematical terms? (would be nice if it was someone who was in maths-sup-math-spe...thanks...)

What this guy is saying is just plain ridiculous.
I couldn't agree more than with DoomHaven's reply!
really, wtF is this guy talking about?
zeb.
couldn't have said it better myself.

agree with that
:(((
It is more like:
"google's such data acquiring's odds what think ?"
(do omoimasuka, the subject is not even mentioned)..
but since no one seems to be interested in the japanese language on slashdot, your karma is still at 1...
:)
Here is the Kintetsu (Kansai) version of your "japanese proverb":
"Abunai desu kara, kiiroi sen no uchigawa de, omachi kudasai..."

Here is an interesting computer graphics technique using bump mapping for wrinkling developed in a japanese research center:
Facial Animation using Bump Mapping
The results are quite impressive with facial animation and garment wrinkling...

sorry to say this but:
Aeiwi is a crappy search engine. I see no future there.
Zeb
Totally agree with elegant7x !
On a different note:
Is a rich geek still a geek?
Is a rich nerd still a nerd?
Corollary: Is Bill Gates still a nerd?
My personal answer is: No.

"Lucien Petit" was translated into:
:)))
"Small Lucien, chairman of Alcove"
Methinks babelfish needs a bit more work
