Cops get "scared" because they refuse to even consider the possibililty that the suspect is deaf, wearing ear plugs, or doesn't speak the same language as the cops. Deaf people get beat up and shot all the time for "not following a cop's orders". Get a clue.
I'd extend that to say any processor based on x86 is going to suffer in the performance/power department compared to an ARM based processor, which is why most truly mobile devices are based on ARM. If you don't need backwards compatibility with your desktop, dragging around that Wintel baggage is a huge penalty for little or no gain. All those Windows apps you already own are going to be useless on a tablet, so what's the point of maintaining Windows compatibility? Linux apps can much more easily be recompiled for a more efficient CPU, but the test coverage to make software robust is only really there for x86.
I was referring to economic superpower, not military. China will become the leading economic superpower with 10 to 20 years. US will remain a military and cultural power, but then France has remained one as well.
The problem with that is that France is now what the US will be in a few years... pissed off that it's no longer a global superpower, and pissed off that it's language is no longer considered the "lingua franca" for global commerce.
The problem of a mob is that you have to remove the reason for it. Else you can only disperse it for a while. It will reform, reassemble and then you're dealing with a pissed mob that not only had its original reason to hate you but also the fact that you tear gassed it and shot it with rubber pellets.
Essentially, all you accomplish, unless you manage to remove the mob's reason to exist, is that you turn the few more or less peaceful guys in the mob into really pissed guys.
Well, no. The most effective way to deal with a mob is to kill every last one of them. Failing that, put every last one of them in jail. Looks like governments are (fortunately) using the second approach.
What's Twitters business model again? Sure, lots of people are babbling on it, but what's their plan for monetizing the babbling? Or do they plan on pulling an AOL and trading their massively overinflated stock for stock in a company that actually has tangible assets?
'cause obviously once you build a data center optimized for Twitter, it can't possibly be used for anything else... hey, maybe somebody should invent a general purpose computer, instead of these damn servers that can only host one application!

You mean, by removing the battery? Unless the phone is OFF, it is possible to at least trace which cell tower it is closest to.
