I agree; I regard recruiters as people that weren't ethical enough to get jobs as used car salesmen. I interviewed for a job once, didn't get any response, so I started another position. A month after the initial interview, the recruiter for the first position offered me $1500 cash in a plain, unmarked envelope to quit the job I'd just started and take the other position instead! (Apparently the cash came out of his commission.) So yes, recruiters know nothing, rely almost entirely on keyword searching in resumes, and will do anything to make a quick buck. But as long as the checks clear, why should I complain?
I'm 57 and got at least 3 calls TODAY offering to submit me for contract software positions. Granted, a lot of recruiters try to low-ball me on the hourly rate, but they change their tune as soon as you call their bluff and tell them you're not interested at that low rate.
Amazon sorting centers pay $12.50/hr to anybody who can show up and pass a drug screen, no skills required, no resume asked for. How is that exploitation? Yes, the problem is that you work at Amazon's convenience, not your own, but I don't see them as taking advantage of anyone -- nobody has a gun to their head making them work there.
I was born before the PC was invented, and I got myopia the old-fashioned way: by reading a lot of books! I don't think limiting my screen time would have helped.
I've thought of that. Stop showing up, keep submitting time cards, and see how long it takes them to notice. And in at least one case, some guy got away with it for 7 years before anybody noticed. Unfortunately, I haven't tried it yet myself.
Fair enough. Both markdavis and bob4u2c have pointed out that this isn't a strictly Republican attribute, and I won't disagree with either of you. I'm not clear why states can't have higher standards than the federal government; California isn't FORCING manufactures to sell anything to other states that don't have California standards, it's just cheaper to make cars that meet the standards in all states. I work on medical devices, and it in same way it is more cost-effective to make a device that meets the standards in all countries instead of just the United States.
Republicans only favor states rights when the states want to do something they agree with that federal government wants to do. When the federal government wants to do something they agree with the states don't want to do (like make pot illegal), they are very much against states rights! Case in point: Gonzales v. Raich
Wind and solar energy don't reduce your need for peak capacity from non-renewables at all unless you have some way of storing energy. And yes, water behind a dam is a way of storing energy.
Not rare, in Oregon and Washington almost every freeway entrance has a stop light for restricting access onto the freeway. And they work fine for human drivers who realize only one car is allowed to go through every time they turn green.
A ticket? I got ARRESTED because i slowed down at a light and the car behind the car behind me ran into the car behind me, knocking it into me. Turns out the car that caused the accident had 6 kids not properly seatbelted who got injured and no insurance, so the cops thought if they blamed the accident on me my insurance would cover their medical costs. It didn't work, the DA threw the case out, and my insurance refused to pay anything. Yeah, I'm pretty sure "the driver's manual says you are required to leave adequate stopping distance between you and the car in front of you" can be argued in court anytime somebody hits you from behind then claims it was your fault for not getting out of their way.
Or, you know, have lots of plants inside your home. Spider plants are particularly good for indoor air quality, and they're hard to kill.
Can they melt down all that plastic into Great Pacific Garbage Patch Kids dolls? I'd buy the heck out of those!
The Trans Pacific Partnership was supposed to deal with China's stealing intellectual property, but of course Trump killed that deal, didn't he?

In Trump World, companies are PUNISHED for being successful! Successful companies make Trump look bad!
Thank you, Captain Obvious! Your work here is done!
Have they considered using Linux servers instead?

The worst part is having to rotate all my heavy stone sundials twice a year!

Can I pay someone to tell my girlfriend I'm breaking up with her? 'Cause I tend to date psychopaths...
I'm sure Trump will fix the problem, we all know how much he hates LEAKS!

To be fair, I have a bad habit of braking for tailgaters. But everything in that story was true.

They're having waymo problems than they expected, then? Now I understand where the name "waymo" comes from.
Why am I sitting on this black leather couch?
