    The person that writes the job description pretty much determines whether or not a US worker can be found. Just add "speaks fluent Hindi or Mandarin" as a requirement, and see how many US citizens qualify!

    That's a good idea, actually. Tax them for using foreign workers by an amount that exceeds the disparity in wages between foreign and US citizen workers. I'd go for about twice the difference, just to be sure.

    Musk seems to be assuming an order of magnitude improvement in battery technology for all his investments... maybe he knows something we don't? Lot's of people are claiming improvements right now, none seem to provide energy density exceeding gasoline. Probably hydrogen comes closest in energy per unit weight, but I'd think the storage difficult would negate that.

  8. No, they're assuming the majority of consumers will be too lazy or too cheap to buy a device to defeat the latest attempt at copy protection. Kind of like the manufactures of this year's new version of Teflon pans assume people wont remember that the previous 20 versions of Teflon all flaked off withing a few years, due to the fundamental physical principle that if nothing sticks to it, then it doesn't stick to the pan! And yet they're still making money selling the "new and improved!" Teflon pans!

    Yes, this just creates a market for recording devices that ignore the "do not copy" flag, or for inline converters that filter it out.

    What a coincidence... I moved OUT of California 20 years ago. One of my motivations was I could see the government interference in people's lives was putting the state into a death spiral.

    How does 20,000 more nutjobs moving to New Hampshire make New Hampshire any more free? Granted, they're probably one of the more libertarian states to begin with, as compared to, say, California.

    Meaning that if Bleeping Computer wins the lawsuit, the Streisand Effect means Enigma loses a lot more business than if they had just ignored the review. I, for one, have never heard of Bleeping Computer and would never have read the review in the first place. Of course, I've never heard of Enigma and would never have bought their software in the first place; most antimalware software seems like a scam to me anyway. Microsoft provides Windows Defender for free; why would I want to PAY for anitvirus?

    The lightning cable is chipped; I suspect Apple is putting a chip in every component so it can identify it. And of course the additional cost of these custom components is passed on to the consumer; that's why iPhones cost $700. I don't mind that as much as the fact that Apple is the highest-priced flash memory vendor in the world AND you have to buy all your flash memory pre-installed.

    Pay the $99/year extortion/insurance that is AppleCare, and always have your phone fixed by Apple under warranty. Then if it gets bricked, it's Apple's fault and you get a new phone. The one thing I've found that Apple does best is customer service.
