Dialing from the command line will be the killer feature. Just type dial voice +1-555-1212 -ntwk verizon -prot cdma2000 -ssh-version 2 -a -l -q -9 -b -k -K 14 -x and away you go. Simple and intuitive!
Don't be ridiculous. Any true geek would know that the command should be:
The oil drillers believe in science as long as it supports their worldview. That is, drilling for more oil. As soon as a scientific finding conflicts with what they want, however, you can bet said belief wavers considerably.
Most big dams are installed for flood control. That they simplify irrigation is a nice side benefit.
That may be the case where you live but here in the the western U.S., the majority of dams have been built for water storage purposes, followed in number by dams built for generation of hydropower. Relatively few have been built exclusively for flood control; I can think of a couple in the Los Angeles area and that's about it.

Apple charges $100 for that "first hit" (the SDK). You have to pay them money for the privilege of developing an application
That's not quite accurate. The SDK is available after a free registration at Apple's iPhone Developer site. I got a copy just out of curiosity even though I'm not a developer.
You do have pay them their ninety-nine dollah if you want to distribute your software through the App Store, though.
Imagine a few restaurants. Linux, Apple, and Microsoft.
Your analogy falls down in one important aspect, namely that software is not a consumable. That is, it does not get used up and turned into waste. This allows Apple to contribute it's spiced-up product back to your allegorical food bank so others can benefit from it.
Macs are already fairly priced if you compare them to a similarly configured PC. But if what you actually mean by "fair price" is a cheap computer, then you're probably out of luck.
Sigh, not this one again. Apple will likely not ever make an inexpensive mini tower because the profit margins are too small. Their strategy is to aim at the high end of the market and let Dell and HP fight it out over the market for cheap computers.
Neither, alas. I suck too badly at math to ever make it in the sciences.
It is a direct quote from my boss, the king of the unintentional malaprop. It was really hard to keep from laughing out loud when he said it. I could hardly wait to get home and change my sig.
Good question. I guess it would depend on whether the phone in question had been jailbroken. Most have not, probably because only nerds like us even know it can be done.

Sheesh
Thanks. I was hoping someone out there remembered that ancient joke.
"...it hurts when I go like this!
It is in some states, the ones that have laws requiring gun owners to securely lock them up.
No argument there. I wasn't picking on oil drillers specifically, just anyone with an agenda that can either be proved or disproved by science.

Think that's weird, try this.
Uh, that makes no sense at all in this context. More importantly, it ignores the big hole in the logic of your original analogy.
More like "+5, You Are Coming to a Sad Realization."

No, but we can dream, can't we?

Just FYI, I can confirm that Safari 3.2 (Mac) does put up a dialog box when I clicked on the link included in the above post.

I don't think whether or not someone has publicly announced their sexual orientation has anything to do with it.
He could always get an iPhone. They don't do video.
I Agree With You Completely.
Okay, I should have been more specific--the free-as-in-beer version is Windows only.
