Its absolutely pointless, but I wonder how long you could keep Windows 95 up before it gets taken over... If you could even find everything you needed to get it online, that is. It might be safer than xp now, if only because it is useless and mostly forgotten.
Reading the post made it occur to me that whether or not its intentional, this could make for some good PR for AMD.
Many of us know how AMD does in benchmarks and in price / performance ratios, but how many of you ended up checking that out or researching on AMD.com? And we are slashdot users. Joe Public might catch wind of this and decide to look into it. What do you think he might buy next?
Just a crazy opinion, take it with a grain of salt because I don't have my tin foil hat on now.
I'm admittedly an AMD fan boy. But there are some reasons to stick with Intel. First of all, large corperations don't like ordering new parts that are not similar to their "base" computers. Switching would increase problems with (especially custom in house) software and increase pressure on the IT staff to fix repairs.
Also, Intel does typically lead in certain benchmarks (like audio / video) and some office products. Companies are going to look much more heavily at those than they will at the many AMD leads in (memory access and gaming). Hyperthreading also gives them an advantage in the programs that are customized for it.
I think the real test of the product line is yet to come. IMHO, AMD is gaining ground and unless Intel does something to change it, AMD will pass it in the more business benchmarks and slowly take away more business marketshare.
I do for one. I'm in an area where there isn't choice. I can't get DSL, there isn't wireless. I can only get one way cable from a crappy company I don't trust (for 70 a month 1 way cable one meg down (they charge extra for the dialup line you need too)). I'm stuck on dialup for uploading no matter what, but I wish I could get one way cable through some one that would price it reasonably enough to make it worthwhile.
Excuse my ignorance, but how can they be sure someone won't just hack the client into a non paying program? Won't they need some system to validate that the user is legitament and has the appropriate credits? If so, they will need a bunch of servers anyway. If not, sign me up for the cracked client.
Is there any MP3 servers that let you buy cheap, DRM free MP3s, that has both a large selection and lets you pay for them individually instead of a montly fee?
A CNET article says that Google "has no plans to sell Web addressees for now.
"Google became a domain name registrar to learn more about the Internet's domain name system," a company representative said Tuesday. "We believe this information can help us increase the quality of our search results."
According to the article its just about their search feature so far. More to come?
It isn't my ISP, I use webmail. Some have spam blocking features, but its nothing to get excited about. Plus my trash folder isn't showing much. Unless the webmail servers are bouncing it or blocking it outright. But I don't know if thats so good, considering how useful mail has ended up in my trash can with their filters.
Weird, I've been getting less and less. Between my 4 accounts, I only get a few peices of spam a week. And my one account has been used as a spam-sucking email account for online forms etc.
Plus it cooks all the food on the ship in under a minute! I don't think I'd want to be in a ship with a high powered concentrated microwave laser aimed at me. You would need to protect the electronics, (most metal?, and the crew.
Couldn't they slow down by turning the sail around? if its only painted on one side, thats the side the CO would escape from, provided the microwaves could pass through the sail.
Is it even really 3d? From the screen shots I've seen it looks like something that can be implemented in pascal even. Just resize & reshape. Or does it do something useful like have windows explode when you click the little 'x'?

Or collect your death insurance a few times.
They could use some of it to make batteries for laptops. It would be great for that warm burning sensation that they already cause.

Yeah, but you probably could get them there by the time you read all the others.
Congrats on the repost. I was aware that there wasn't an "Indian", but I couldn't think of the name of their language(s).
You still got it wrong, so we're going to continue mocking you.
Does this mean you were aware that you were reposting? Or do you have multiple personality disorder?
I guess a programming major insn't enough. Now I need to learn Indian as well.
ah, sorry then, I don't have cable. (The company here sucks and I refuse to give them any money)
Will I get credits for sharing the music I downloaded on Kazaa?
Is that an allusion to this? (see the board).

I don't think this is a repost, like most involving cars, poles, and just about anything else.
In Solviet Russia, your favorite jokes post you.
Electrons have mass? I didn't know they were Catholic!
And of course the classic ID 10 T user error.
Yes, but have you over clocked it to cook the toast in half the time? Or even better, can you turn it sidways and use it as a weapon?
Or war of the worlds. I for one hope theres no life on mars untill we get there.

All I care is can they get it ready to play Doom IV.

really? I have this nifty tool that allows me to bounce emails after 25 megs. :p
Even at a few k a message, thats gotta hurt someone's servers, hopefully not yours?
I think its about as useful as 3d windows. Besides, it takes a lot of resources to plot a 3rd dimension of crashes.
*shudders* BSOD in 3D.
