Sorry, folks, but I *have* to chime in.
Anything you call "pizza" isn't pizza if it doesn't seem *and* taste like italian pizza (I'd go further and say Neapolitan Pizza). Fullstop!
Now, I also like PizzaHut and stuff, but I just consider it what it is: something made with spongy bread, sauce, some weird cheese, and a lot of other stuff on it.
They should have asked *first* everybody in the gaming arenas (the various forums dedicated to videogames) for suggestions, and *then* opening a 'general public' poll. Differently, you get what we see: an incredible mess of random videogames selected by a 'curator'...
Awww, come on! It is a Camarasaurus, not a T-Rex;-)
It seems to smile, if you look at it!
And by the way, there is a "t-rex" behaviour, where it roars! It reminds me of "Lilo and Stitch" when Stitch destroys the San Francisco model he made, hehe.
Well, you'd say, obviously!
Disclaimer: I own a Pleo.
I know that it's not engaging as it could be a cat, but it can be engaging as it could be -say- a turtle.
Of course this is just an attempt at AI, with some life simulation; so there's nothing like neural-network-simulated-synapses-AI-supercomputer-MIT-experiment, you know.
What's nice is that there have been a couple firmware upgrades, with actually different 'global' behaviours, and there are a few 'SD' behaviours that can change the way Pleo reacts to external activities.
All in all, it is nice to have the thing moving around in the explore mode, and toy with it and make it purr or barf or stand on two legs:-)
Ah, by the way, a link may be nice
I don't know... If you read the quote (copy&paste from BBC website):
"The basic principle in the mobile industry is that those companies who contribute in technology development to establish standards create intellectual property, which others then need to compensate for," said Ilkka Rahnasto, vice president of Legal & Intellectual Property at Nokia.
"Apple is also expected to follow this principle."
It seems that is more of a 'gentlemen agreement' thing.
I am not a native English speaker, though.
Of course you can lift and drag!
Read the instruction manual: you'll find that you just have to hold the mouse by those two lateral buttons (not squeezing them, just holding) and you'll be fine!
yet, yesterday there was this discussion on Slashdot, saying nobody wants to use CLI (as usually Linux users do), hence everybody uses Windows...
weird...
you can see in the images that lots of buildings are the "bricks" kind, and others are the "concrete" kind. However, many buidings made in the '50s are meda with a concrete that is quite bad for today's standards, where the irons show oxidation and their seismic "capability" is not even near modern constructions.
I have to tell you that most of the buildings in those towns are very *very* old buildings, not concrete-seismic-proof structures. Thatt is because central Italy has still got a lot of its medieval towns up and running.
However, I would say that waaaay more than two pictures are needed in order to compare air quality. Just imagine how can change current conditions the presence of clouds, high winds, fog, temperature, working/non working days,... you got the picture.

The guy has got a shirt which reads, "DO THE MATH"
This happens to be the Atari tagline for the Jaguar. And I feel that something is seriously wrong here, since almost any Atari enthusiast loved Atari (and often Apple) while disliked Microsoft.

I understand that all this online frenzy hit all major players in the IT field, but I still think that the Internet as it is now is not ready for this, and, in parallel, a lot of people don't feel ready for this.
By the way, good luck to Mozilla; it is always good to have more than one player.
If you look around, you can actually find old tv commercials. I know for sure that there are Atari and Intellivision and Apple commercials around, I even downloaded a compilation of them a while ago (it was atari-related stuff)
"...though no new OS generally increases performance..."
This is true only in MS products AFAIK, since MacOS performance is always gone better with newer versions (on acceptably not-older-than-6-years machines of course)
I heard, too, that there are Linux distros that show better results with newer kernels, but don't quote me on that.

I always wondered why the Americans adopted SMS sooooo later than European
However, you know that half the software you mention is *not* Windows native, right?
...and that is, hmmm, how many football fields? Or was it Libraries of... no, wait!

I think it can be marked as redundant, but there isn't any actual choice right now; and by the way, do we have a shipping date?

That is *exactly* what I did with my parents.
I also did it with Thunderbird/outlook by adding a skin.

aww, come on! Your ID is too small for not knowing that it has to be Netcraft!

Let me tell you that Microsoft, then, IS the standard FOR YOU!
If your manager had -say- LOTUS 1-2-3, then microsoft wouldnt be the standard.
