Yeah, I never went past the 2.8 Winamp anyways, never did like the 3 or greater versions. I knew that AOL owned them, but I didn't keep up with how much bloat they have, since I switched to a Mac. Now I can't get a good Window Media Player.

I only encode all my TV shows I capture into h.264 since EyeTV made it an option. Its just got such high quality for small file size. Go get quicktime, then go to the trailer section, watch Batman Begins in 720p, you will see what everyone is talking about.

Why don't they distribute Winamp with their PCs as a media player? Most people I know go out and download it, then it up to play all their CDs and MP3s. Only thing that they might use Windows Media player for is movie clips, or things that have Windows DRM which need WMP.

I say unplug because when just disabling the network card in windows and you end up rebooting before enabling it, I have had some problems with some computer just not wanting to fully reboot because the disabled nic card.

Do you really think that people will pay $200 for OS X. Maybe the rabid Windows users might since Windows will cost them more, but Apple hardware last longer than regular PCs. So software has to be cheap enough for us to buy over and over agian. What makes you think that OS X only costs $40 to make. Apple goes into detail over their software, that it has to be faster than the release before, and have more features but not complicated to use. That takes time and money, which is more than this $40 you say it takes to produce OS X and $20 for iLife.

Because this would cause the driver and dll hell that is already present on Windows. Plus, they use the money made from their hardware to make their software better, which ends up selling their hardware. Do you really think iLife '05 or iWorks would be $79 if Apple only sold software?

I believe that they don't want to ship it with a hard drive because if they ship a 40 gig hard drive, people will complain that it should have 60 gigs. Others will say 80 gig is what they need, others 100 gigs, everyone will want to special order the size they want. Sony doesn't want to do that, or ship 40 gig PS3 models out to Eb game stores and have them not sell. If you want to add a HD, you can do it later, and I'm sure they will show you how its done and make it and easy upgrade so you can choose the size. This is what happened with the Xbox, everyone that wanted a larger drive had to crack it open, and put it in. External is much easier to deal with, and the user can choose.
