Your statement so wrong. From the Article:"In fact, Intel has tested and certified three operating systems for the Classmate PC: Mandriva Linux, Metasys Linux and Microsoft Windows XP Pro." So it has been tested and it works. Mod me down if you want, but your statement will still be wrong.
Also, keeping the "improvements" to the business process running can make IT jobs. Complex systems that automate everything that allowed some IT jobs to get cut also open the door for other IT jobs to keep that system running smoothly. The more a company wants to do, the more people they might need to hire as they grow larger.
Actually, my dentist told me what she had to go though to get her daughters computer reactivated, it doesn't just take a few minutes. Tell me, do you have Vista you Anonymous Coward?
Not a pain now, but when you update your drivers for something else like NIC card, well, reactivate again. Then the video card so you can play that new game a with some better frame rates, reactivate again. Upgrade the BIOS on the Motherboard, reactivate again. This will become a huge pain once you have to do this a bunch of times over the life of your computer. And as an IT worker who sometimes have to do these driver updates or BIOS updates for flaws in them that cause problems, especially BIOS updates on laptops to get the fans or docking stations to work properly, this will become a real pain when the Vista upgrade comes.
Yeah, but as far as I know its congress that has to hold him accountable. And by the looks of this, they just don't care. All the people can do is vote at elections, which makes us powerless when the people we voted for wont do anything.
If my memory serves me right, the first few OS X releases were free for students at my College. But they later changed that to a few dollars to help pay for the CDs that the college employees had to had to burn for every student that wanted it. And these were professional CDs too, so they were not cheap either.
What OSX patch installed itself automatically? I have run.1 though.4, and I don't remember a time waking up in the morning to find my computer rebooted and sitting at the login prompt. I also run Debian servers, the base for Ubuntu, and I have never had a system update without me logging in as root and running apt-get to get the updates. Tell me which updates pushed automatically for each OS you say auto updates without prompting and I'll look it up and confirm it, but I don't know any or find any for Debian or OSX.
One person already brought up the idea that it could be hackers using tor, and that they are reading the emails of the embassy officials. tor just helps them cover their tracks.
According to the wiki entry on ZFS, its under the CDDL. CDDL is based on the Mozilla Public License and on the CDDL wiki is states, "Files licensed under the CDDL can be combined with files licensed under other licenses, whether open source or proprietary. The Free Software Foundation considers it a free license incompatible with the GNU General Public License (GPL). In fact, this is too generalized. Some restrictions in the GPL prevent GPLd code to appear inside CDDLd projects." So it sounds like the CDDL can go into GPLd projects, but not the other way around. But again, these are wiki entries, take them with a grain of salt.
"Yet the legality of hosting a site hosting.torrent files that are not themselves infringing is being called into question?"
Giving a key to a thief that then breaks into a place using that key will get you in trouble. Since you know the.torrent leads to copy righted material and is illegal, just like you know the person you are giving the key to will steal something. Both are punishable under the US law for giving people access to material/possessions that are not theirs to take.
I say yes. I say there should be a rule to keep people from showing up at the last minute and voting. Otherwise big companies can pay smaller ones just to show up and vote, never hearing or knowing what they are voting on. This is a classic case of this happening. Big MS buys smaller companies to show up on vote day and buys a winning ticket for their format. A rule should be put in place that you need to be a member for a certain amount of time, 3 months, a year, before you can cast a vote.
From the description, they do not need physical access to your keys, that why they said in your pocket. That means the person next to you, or a few feet/meters away could be stealing the car keys.
You kind of do that already. You have basic elective courses along with all the math, history, science, and english. You get to choose if you want to take a foreign language (not necessary at my high school), computer courses, home ec (sic), art courses, FFA courses (farmers, NJ country side here), or you can go out and get a job for half the day. I think in Europe some countries do more a two or three path thing where you can study to go to college as one of the choices then the others are so that the student can join the work force right out of high school. People made a choice at lease starting at 9th grade in which direction they wanted to go, but you have a choice to spread out over all of them, not just declare a major and have courses just on that subject along with math, english and science. I see this as not being necessary.

Very important info for all those who want to start a flame war about what OS it was running and why it was connected to the Internet.
That is what everyone is wondering about. But I'm thinking that there could be a pass phrase or something to unlock the iPod to any computer, so that it isn't accidentally locked and can't be undone. Now, if it gets locked, thats when no charger will work until you plug it into a computer and put in the correct pass phrase to undo the no charging. I would see that working and helping to keep theft down.
When you connect your iPod to a different computer, it pops up saying that it is synced with a different computer. I believe it also asks if you want to pair it with the current computer, or just leave it paired with the other computer, just allowing you to sync more music and video to it, not the personal contacts and stuff.

What did you say about my mother!!! Oh, it says "fock". That doesn't make any sense?
But I got the family pack for $199, so do I only get $1 back. =(

Game over man! Game over!
Tell me, is it bad when if you recognize someone from high school in one of those.

Actually, OS 9 to OS X had something called Classic in OS X, so that you could run all your OS 9 programs without a rewrite.
But what is the bit rate for these songs? 112, 128, 160?
