My bad, 4500 is nonexistent, I was thinking of the 4600 (probably my next purchase)
If you're looking at that, check out the Opteron 175 as well (What I just got). It's 200MHz slower which is easy to OC (mine's running at 2.4 same as the 4600 and I've never overclocked anything before) but it has double the cache. 1MB per core versus 512K on the 4600. Both are Socket 939 as well.
The Froogle prices that showed up when I just did a google search on both of these show the opteron as being less expensive as well.
I can find that the US governement has done to counter terrorism, along with commentary by independent terrorism experts on whether they think each measure is useful or not.
And I could counter with expert opinion about how they do nothing useful against terrorism, so it's not particularly useful. If you choose to believe that the government is your friend and is working for your interests rather than its own, then no amount of facts or reason will change your opinion, since it directly contradicts all of recorded history so it's clearly a religious belief. It still doesn't address the actual point that the OPs 2 statements are in no way contradictory.
And that's just step 1. Step 2-6 involve blind men doing the hokey-pokey in synchronicity while three Irishmen do a Jig on top of your keyboard, as well as removing a 1cm portion of your left foot's big toe.... I could go on.
Well then go on! I mean WTF?!? Here I am sitting at my desk, blind drunk leprechauns everywhere with my freaking half a toe bleeding profusely and you say you *could* go on?!?
I guess they should lock up and hold without trial my dog for terrorizing my cat, huh? It doesn't have to be political, my dog was chasing my cat. He was terrorized. This is terrorism. Fucking dogs - they're all terrorists!
Come on now, AC. Dog on cat violence is clearly a "hate crime", not "terrorism".
I know it's tough to keep all these idiotic "catch all boogie man" terms straight, but you can try a little harder;-)
It's not a form of terrorism with high ideals or any cause to rally around aside from the power of the dollar. It leads to drive by shootings, home invasions and people being murdered for being witnesses against the same cartels that run drugs into your streets.
Except the problem with your point is that *every* problem you brought up is caused by drug laws. Not by drugs. This point was demonstrated absolutely back with prohibition and the war on drugs amplified *every* problem prohibition caused.
So your example is crap and demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the issue.
No, it is not in any way an honest look at things. It was an *entirely* dishonest attempt to promote the war on personal freedom by sending massive amounts of tax dollars to programs whose only effect has been to increase police power and the wealth of the prison industry at the expanse of our constitution and our rights.
Nice try. Next time try at least getting *any* of the facts right.
Wow you can't win can you. Either Bush is blowing terrorism out of proportion for votes or leaving them alone because they are no threat. How about some intellectually honest discussion for a change.
There is nothing inconsistent in those statements.
Fact: Bush is blowing it all out of proportion. This is well understood at this point.
Fact: Bush isn't doing much of anything to the terrorists because they are not much of a real threat.
So, while he is using the entirely blown out of proportion threat of terrorism as a justification for his actions, his actions aren't designed to do anything about the problems (real or imagined) posed by terrorism. They are designed to increase the power of the US government over its own citizens.
So, what exactly about what the OP said do you consider to be in any way inconsistent or intellectually dishonest. The two ideas go hand in hand. They do not conflict with each other in any way. You might disagree that they are true if you haven't bothered to inform yourself on the issue, but that still doesn't mean that the ideas aren't perfectly complementary.
Not only have I been unsuccessful, but nobody can even POINT me to a machine I can buy.
IBM Thinkpad T40. *Everything* worked perfectly with no effort. Upon booting off of a Gentoo live CD I even had a DHCP address from the built in wireless. Granted it's a bit older now, but there's one.
Given that single core Opterons are running at commodity prices, that makes the most sense from a budget perspective. But, the 3800 X2's are almost in the same commodity category.
The dual core Opterons and the X2's are basically the same chips AFAIK. The Opterons all have 1MB cache per core, whereas only some of the X2's do. The conventional wisdom (which could be wrong) is that the Opterons are better tested and higher quality in general since they are intended for servers. Another frequently stated idea is that due to the above, the Opterons are better overclockers.
Up until recently, a dual core Opteron was cheaper than the equivalent X2, AMD recently raised their Opteron proces and lowered their X2 prices to get them more in line since many people were getting Opterons for their non server computers.
Like me, for example, who ordered an Opteron 175 right before the prices went up;-)
Now I just wish people would get their act together with better dual core support. That'll allow me to get major speed improvements without spending anything on hardware.
if you were just casually playing it over the last week, you don't feel its suckiness.
I was.
then "just exit the first city and it will be better" but it didn't.
I just finished Chapter 1;-)
if you have a good machine, it doesn't suck so much. Opteron 175, Geforce 6800GT, 2 GB Being behind the game curve rules;-)
If you can, get the "camera hack" to see why -
I'll try it. Thanks.
D20 systems are good for pen&paper RPG,...
A friend at work was talking about that when I told him I got it. He bought it when it came out, and then the expansions as they came out and really liked it, and to him the whole detailed dice stat stuff was really cool. It's kind of cool to me, because I never really played real D&D with like paper and dice and an actual human DM you were interacting with and all that good stuff. So, somehow to me, it seems less arbitrary than...like most RPGs; stupid, probably since it all boils down to "dice rolls" anyhow. So, like `cat scroll_by_log_thingy | howTF_did That_Thing_Kill_Me` did help me to sort out some stuff here and there, But I can definitely see myself arguing my way out of some of the nonsense that computer games have always had to require;-)
If you're a good thief, why can't you climb the city walls to get out of the quarantine?
Heh, I'm actually a Neutral Rogue ( which I guess used to be called a Theif? ). So, you're darn tootin' I'm that good, I swear. I'm aiming for Shadow Dancer, in fact;-)
Thanks to camera angle, ranged weapons are nearly useless once again.
w00t!. I don't totally suck;-)
do you want me to go on?
Well you made a bunch of good points so far and I totally get what you're saying, but if you have more, go for it. They are 100% recycled electrons, after all;-)
I started a new game recently with Tribunal installed, and I got my arse handed to me on a platter by a Dark Brotherhood assassin before I'd even made it out of Seyda Neen.
I got the game of the year edition (runs fine under Cedega) a while back never having played it at all before, installed it with all the expansions, got attacked by an assassin the first time I slept, somehow beat him and played the entire game using his armor since it was better than anything else I found;-)
..2 of those are critters we work with in biology lab classes (in university) regularly. Although admittedly one isn't the antibiotic-resistant strain they mention in the article.
Does "isn't the antibiotic-resistant strain" mean it's not a concentrated isolated sample of that i.e it's a population including some of those bad guys which some of your labs might help concentrate?
Let me propose a test to see which theory is correct:
Ummm... why can't it be both, plus animal feed, plus AB soap plus almost everything else mentioned in this discussion. The more selection pressures, the more selection all else being equal.
I mean, this is the first I've heard of your theory, and it seems perfectly reasonable (to me as a computer geek with a layman's interest in various sciences) as one vector for the creation and spread of these nasty bugs. Especially in that it illuminates a highly increased exposure to the more hardcore injectible anitbiotics which none of the other ideas I've seen here addresses.
I don't think it's really an area where one particular "theory" will win out or even that one is better. Obviously, somebody is bound to come up with something that just doesn't make sense and hence isn't worth wasting time or money on but it's not like there is only "One True Way" that increased resistance occurs.
There used to be a law in the US ~10 or so years ago against direct marketing, but it was relaxed. Consequently, the price of the average prescription tripled almost immediately.
And, of course, the problems other posters brought of patients demanding (non intoxicating) drugs they don't need was born, or at least multiplied tremendously.
Tell them what? That the incompetence if not outright malice of their government allowed their deaths? That their deaths were willfully misused as an excuse to invade a country that had nothing to do with their deaths? That their deaths are being used as an excuse to pass a whole slew of anti-Liberty legislation? That their deaths are used by the President to open torture camps, to piss all over the constitution woithout doing a single thing to address the actual issues that lead to their deaths?
Hell, their deaths weren't even in vain, they were maliciously used for purely foul purposes.
Fuck that dude. I don't have the heart to tell them. How about you tell them.
Hi Mr. Reagan. I'm glad you're dead. Primarily becasue 9/11 was *the* culmination of your legacy. I hope you're having fun burning in hell, you treasonous cowardly scumbag.
Agreed, and thanks for the response. It was in response to a specific question of mine, so discussing it's "suckiness" in relation to that of A&D is perfectly legit since it doesn't sound like either of us are trying to claim that our opinions are absolute truth.
Given that I thought A&D sucked for much the same reasons you gave, it makes sense that your take on DVC would be a much more helpful review for me than that of some random person.
So, thanks for answering. And to the poster between us: quit whining.
No, protecting the process is more important than any allegation of wrong doing.
Spoken like a typical scumbag piece of shit lawyer whose lifestyle is dependent on the utterly corrupt nature of the system. Sorry, but us decent Americans don't buy into that assinine shit that since the system is gamed by the lawyers we must be concerned with preserving it. No, the system benefits you, and fucks the rest of us.
No, again, his interest was only that of any other citizen.
Absolutely. And every citizen has been raped in large part by this company.
He is absolutely a hero. Your failure to see that is based on your occupation which is a tremendous chunk of the fucking problem.
Or should I say that you misspelled "pay disproportionatly more for those benefits"?
I was saying the opposite, in fact. Somebody who has never worked a day in their life, who spent all their welfare on crack and had 18 kids while doing it has still received *far* less benefit from our society than Bill Gates for example.
That's simple to see. Simply declare that for one week, no societal protections of any sort whatsoever will apply to either of them.
Lets see who loses the most and who ends up dead first.
This ignores the tremendous benefits BG received from our tax dollars for education (all those "knowledge workers") and direct income from our taxes due to government purchases.
I'm not saying that a "progressive tax" is the end all be all. Just that pretending that "punishing the rich" has anything to do with it outside the heads of a few loonies is downright silly.
Nobody could write Sherlock Holmes stories, or even have him appear as an incidental character in a story untill the copyright expired for example.
Well, unless they bought the rights, as one of my high school English teachers did. He wrote a book called "Exit Sherlock Holmes" where he killed off Holmes. To hear him tell it, that's the main reason he even wrote the book;-)

I do know that the original Bards Tale series is packed in with the New (ish) Bards Tale for PC that was recently released.
I've seen that and almost got it a few times. Anybody know if the new game is any good?
And that's just step 1. Step 2-6 involve blind men doing the hokey-pokey in synchronicity while three Irishmen do a Jig on top of your keyboard, as well as removing a 1cm portion of your left foot's big toe
Well then go on! I mean WTF?!? Here I am sitting at my desk, blind drunk leprechauns everywhere with my freaking half a toe bleeding profusely and you say you *could* go on?!?
Like any tool, the fault isn't the tool but the people using it.
But when the people using it are all tools, then you have a real problem.
I guess they should lock up and hold without trial my dog for terrorizing my cat, huh? It doesn't have to be political, my dog was chasing my cat. He was terrorized. This is terrorism. Fucking dogs - they're all terrorists!

Neverwinter Nights sucked in so many ways that it's a good subject for an argument.
I'd never played until I picked up the platinum edition a week or so ago. I think it's pretty sweet, native Linux client and all.
Did it used to suck more but they fixed problems, am I missing something, or do I just have a real high threshold of "suck" compared to you?

Yersia pestis which causes pneumonic plague (you might know this as Black Death which killed ~20% of the Earth's population once)
Can you go into a bit more detail about this?
Especially regarding things like:
My understanding is that the plague was primarily (totally?) in Europe. Was there a secondary wave of it once travel increased? If not, why not?
Aren't the survivors (us) resistant?
Or, of course, anything else you think might be of interest.
