why link to a more expensive version when there are cheaper versions of Office:
MS Office 2003:
163.99 - Microsoft Office Basic Edition 2003 (Full Version) Single-Pack OEM *** Free 2nd Day ***
224.99 - Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 (Full Version) Single-Pack OEM *** Free 2nd Day ***
289.99 - Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 (Full Version) Single-Pack OEM *** Free 2nd Day ***
From that page I also noticed that the price for the XP Small Business Edition is cheaper than the 2003 edition:
224.99 - Microsoft Office Small Business Edition 2003 (Full Version) Single-Pack OEM *** Free 2nd Day ***
169.99 - Microsoft Office XP Small Business Edition (Full Version) Single-Pack OEM ***Free 2nd Day***
If there was a plan already in place at NATO to turn over control to them (instead of the UN), I don't think we would even be discussing this (because I doubt we would have refused to turn it over).
There is talk on capital hill about withholding payments to the UN until there are reforms, how can anyone expect us to handover control to them?
This would be like nationalizing the oil market, and turning control of it over to Enron in the middle of them being investigated for their fraud.
Your analogy to Enron is great.. In the same way you think ICANN is like Enron, the US thinks the UN is like Enron.
I don't like ICANN anymore than you do, but the UN is several times worse. Forget about your local government for a minute.. forget about the U.S... do you seriously believe that once the UN gets control of it, that countries like Libya and China will have your best interests in mind? They have their own agendas (mostly filtering) that are NOT in anyones best interests.
In theory I can see the EU developing a "new internet"... just like they are creating their own GPS network..
But.. let me know when they get the funding sorted out for Magellan (not even going to mention actually getting it up there)... then we can talk about them building their own internet.
This is probably why they would prefer to have us just hand over our network.. they know if they ever tried to get the EU to agree on something, it would never get done.
did it ever occur to you that perhaps you shouldn't use what you can't afford? And no.. it does not make it ethically acceptable to download music you have no right to. The artist who produced that music does have a right to get paid for their work.
There is still hope, and writing a letter to people like Tom DeLay or George Bush might help
Politicians shouldn't be putting any pressue on the FDA (either for or against). They aren't in the medical field and those at the FDA know far more about it than the politicians do.
The last thing we need is politicians to start pressuring the FDA to approve drugs/devices.. especially those that an FDA panel thinks are too risky to approve.
have you tried a glare filter? it increases the contrast and reduces the glare.. has helped my vision quite a bit (I have 20-20 vision.. but things aren't blurry by the end of the day anymore).
but you didn't pay a penny to Google for those services.. because you are not google's customer -- the advertisers are.. the only way we can really know if Google has successfully moved into other areas is to see what revenue they are generating from their other products/services.
I'm happy with my decision, but I haven't been out of school long.. so I'm not really sure how it will turn out long term. I started school about the time the bubble burst, and the layoffs started.
I should probably add that at the time I was making the decision.. I already knew a half-dozen programming languages, and spent virtually my entire day at a computer...
If I had thought there were going to be jobs when I graduated.. I would have jumped at getting the CS degree.
You are so right.. when I started college I wanted to go into either Business Management, or Computer Science. I liked both of the fields, but I actually liked CS better (thought it would be more interesting, etc)...
But I also thought CS could easily end up a dead end (too many CS grads, not enough jobs, etc).. So I got a business degree.
thanks for the link.. very informative..

1. US tells UN there need to be reforms
2. UN still expects US to hand over control of the internet
3. US refuses (duh)
4. UN has a hissy fit.
If the US thinks the UN is corrupt.. why would we turn over control of a critical piece of infrastructure to them?!
The UN isn't discussing that.. they're to busy talking about US control of the internet...
Don't they have more important things to discuss?! This just illustrates why the UN needs reforms.

Look a little closer at those links:
Revenue (in thousands):
Google: 3,189,223
Yahoo: 3,574,517
So yeah.. that's pretty similar.. But, here's the number that really matters:
Net Income (in thousands)
Google: 399,119
Yahoo: 839,553
So Yahoo makes more than twice the profit compared to Google.
first open source program to become popular? uhh... Apache?
Read the cia factbook about North Korea... they can't even feed their own people.. and for "Internet Users", the CIA has "NA"
The official website for North Korea isn't even hosted in North Korea! (it's currently in Spain)
should have probably mentioned I use a CRT.. don't know how much better/worse they are for LCDs

Pfff... they also have an image search!
i love your logic.. if its happening somewhere else, its a-ok everywhere. [/sarcasm]
I take it you like pot a lot, eh?
Your post is completely useless for that purpose.

i went over to search engine watch, and found this chart:
comScore Media Metrix Search Engine Ratings
Which shows google at 35%, yahoo at 32%, msn at 16%..
