I normally put one in that if you hold down CTRL and click a certain area of the screen it'll say something like "Programmed by x, y and z".
Just so I know I'll always have a little bit of me in there.
Two FBI agents walked into a public library in Maryland.
They see a dog and said to the man, "does your dog bite"
The man said, "no!"
They patted the dog and it bit them.
Surprised, they cried "I though you said your dog doesn't bite?"
The man said "that's not my dog.."
I find it interesting because of the various people I meet online and chat to. They come from all walks of life so there's endless topics of conversation. My highlights are the NASA museum and Open University campus.
(oh ok I like the pole dancing club - there I've said it)
I thought quantum encryption was just getting past the theory stage, now some boffins have already 'cracked' it. I'm so like, you know?, wow!, you know?
Yeah this is an extremely valid point. My Vista PC had 100's of 'malware' items on, all were tracking cookies. So from that someone extrapolates Vista has poor security. sheesh.
'I downloaded and installed [the SP3] package for IT Professionals and Developers on one of my computers. Now I can't get the computer to boot....'
Well I crashed my car and it ended up on it's roof, then I couldn't get it to drive. Is it the car vendors fault?
When you read the SP3 readme there isn't any seachanges going on there, just a raft of hotfixes that were available from Windows Update and some Svr2008 compat stuff.
If the system BSOD's then maybe it's a driver issue, a quick going over the dmp with windbg should reveal the root cause. If you can't do windbg stuff then learn about it as it's a great skill to add to your cv + you'll be able to find out what's up with your system.
I got a top-end XFi package and it costs flippin loads but the crystalizer worked very well with MP3's through my Samsung home cinema box, and there was a noticible performance gain with FS2004 as the on-board sound driver (it's an Abit board) was fairly resource intensive and caused frame rate issues with the simulator. That all cleared up with the Xfi. Problems began when I changed my PC and had a dual boot Vista/Ubuntu setup. Anyone following the driver issues will know what I mean when I say I felt like putting the Xfi on the floor and stamping on it.
So Asus have pulled out a decent sound card eh? Me very interested.
they got SCART spot on - it is s**t and I hate the oversize connectors and the way it never seems to click in so that if you actually move anything they pop out at an angle because to get a decent signal you need to buy a stupidly priced 'quality' cable that's as thick as a ships rope and is too heavy for the friction held connector - hmphhhh
oh but HDMI cable, you sleek sexy thang, you're my new interconnect friend
I didn't get it, and I have some questions. On the graph what does the Time axis represent, seconds, days, months? What the hay did they do to get c.500Mb of IE? I can't get near that even if I have several youtube browsers running, CNET, MSN bloat all in tabs of 1 instance, or ctrl-N windows or separate instances and combining the mem usage. help me understand!
yawn boring but the phrase 'create vista buzz' and the end made me chuckle - yeah you did that alright although I suspect this was not the buzz you were looking for.
If I may be so bold as to offer some advice here, during the planning for Vista's successor make sure the #1 item is 'lean and fast', let's get to where Windows is the OS and not trying to be everything to everyone. ok?
When you strip all the crap off XP SP2 rocks, Vista is a hard place to get be, so people are stuck between XP rocks and vista hard place.
cheers!
not Vista! this story. As others have already pointed out SP1 hasn't been pulled at all. Now you've wasted your time reading this rant about made up stories wasting my time.
It brings a tear to my eye thinking about all those old skills I've got but are useless. Here's a few:
Knowing the pinouts of a 25D to 9D sub serial connector
Been able to solder the above from a bag of connecters and a spool of cable.
HP3000 system admin commands
Been able to use Highmem and devicehigh etc to optimise MS-DOS workstations
Knowing your ISA from your PCI from EISA from MCA
Knowing how to configure BIOS on an IBM PS/2 using a floppy
Building a TCP/IP stack in MSDOS using NDIS drivers
How to apply a bee-sting to the RG coax
etc etc
It's all too easy now-a-days which is why I'm now into Linux. At least I can retain _some_ mystique on how to get hardware working and pretend it's all black magic.

Its still 4:3, just with bars on top and at the bottom.
Are you sure about that?
Offtopic?! oh I see, english humour fails to impress ROW :-(

mod parent up! for as long as I remember some software prices simply changed the currency symbol ($ to £). Same goes for some tech books.
