    You know what sucks about Naboo? The royalty is elected and serves a limited term (Amidala is no longer queen by Ep2). If your family line is not selected by God to rule forever, what's the point calling it royalty?

    lol. I didn't mean the ACTUAL Leia, but I forgot that the princess is in the movie as a newborn. Wait, what exactly was she a princess of again? Does that make Anakin king?

    Um...yeah. You see, that's exactly my point (and this subject line you've chosen remains oh so apropos). The news title reads "DNF Physics Impress." And the link is to "a stunning demonstration of its latest physics technology." Sit sit back for one second and consider what a reasonable person would expect to see when they click through to that? No shit I wouldn't have peeked if I knew it was nothing more than what it turned out to be.

    Right, and because some guy says it's fast, impressive, and going to be all over games for the next generation consols (sic), it's conclusively proven to be so?

    Especially for this type of hyped-up claim, I'd really like the opportunity to judge, or at least see it for myself. If you say you're going to change the world, I'd prefer you bring some evidence to the table rather than have closed-door accounts spinning your PR for you.

    The fabric stuff sounds just like the goal-net "physics" in every soccer game since 2000. I don't have much confidence in DNF, but with HL2 and PPUs, "physics" seems to be the new buzzword in town.

    The word is IBM is using the Lenovo connection to get into the China market. And from the whole WAPI thing, the Chinese government might just be anti-western-dominated-standards enough to support a POWER-powered desktop on the mainland.

    I can't help but notice that the most gung-ho anti-aging advocates are those entering a phase of life where they become painful aware and fearful of their own mortality. Nothing wrong with that, but they never just come out and say it.

    Very good point. I think everyone here has done some kind of cursory url-predicting (isn't typing in "http://www.apple.com/g5powerbook/" how most leaks get out?), and it's usually a case of mea culpa for the company involved. There is an ethical boundary somewhere, especially when it comes to real hacking. But I'm not convinced this crosses the line. IMO this is closer to calling the admissions office a month early and asking for your decision over the phone.

    119 applicants? Or acceptees? With HBS's acceptance rates, there's a good chance that none (and it's almost certain that most) of these people were rejected anyways, so Harvard isn't actually changing any of its decisions, merely confirming what they already knew (albeit a month early).

    Google doesn't need to stuff keywords for their own site - they could make their own Adwords page the only thing you ever see if you search for "traffic estimator." And why should Google care about stuffing keywords for Yahoo or Microsoft's earch engines? They don't control what you do for other search engines, either (if Google knew that your site only keyword-stuffed for MSN and Yahoo crawlers, would they care? No, they'd probably high-five you for screwing with their competitors' relevancy). There's no hypocrtical behavior here.

    OK, it rolls up and down like a scrollwheel, but all the benefits of "use either hand, both hands, all five limbs!" can be said for the touchpad as well (it all depends on the positioning of the buttons). Also, the "end detection" is exactly the same as "edge detection" on the synaptics touchpad, except this one has a tactile feel and mechanical moving parts to eventually go bad.
