2048x1080 falls a bit short.
The changes in the surface of the earth that are caused by the nature of the earth (moving plates, covered with water, etc.) are not damage, but natural changes. NOW, if something NON-earth were to change the shape of the earth, you can start talking damage (nukes erasing small islands, meteors erasing large islands, proto-planets causing a moon to form from earth-material.)
Car analogy would be, the car moving from one position to another by the power of the engine included in said car. That'd be natural for the car,and normal.
When the car interacts with something else the car wasn't designed to interact with (spraypaint, curb, acid-rain, car-crushing monster-truck, j-walker) then we start to talk damage.
Sir, I invite you to reproduce the photograph "Moonrise of Hernandez." It's nothing more than a snap shot of the moon rising over the city of Hernandez in New Mexico. When you can do that you will be qualified to say "all you do is hit a button."

0436 to 1300... that's over 8 hours it wasn't newsworth earlier, but it is now. Bloody hell. Go Moderators! So much for being consistant. I figured the mods would be consistant, they usualy approve the same story two, sometimes three times, in a row (famous slashdot dupes.)
Article text:
Although McAfee has not yet said whether it will pursue licensing agreements from other software vendors, the patent is likely to put pressure on rivals such as Symantec and Zone Labs. Most firewall applications provide traceroute capabilities, with some including visual maps to aid users.
In 2001, the USPTO granted McAfee an unusually broad patent regarding automatic updating and self-installation of software. At the time, McAfee said anyone "willfully flaunting the technology" would face legal action.
ME:
Well, even though the text says McAfee hasn't decided on going after other companies with lawsuits..err licensing agreements... they do appear to have a track record of doing so.
You have the knowlege of the work to be done, having been promoted from within. But there are things to remember.
You MANAGE a business.
You LEAD people.
If you want to make the most of your staff you need to be more than just compotent in the ways of yor business (Management) you need to be able to LEAD.
You need to be able in instill in others (or select for) a sense that their efforts are meaningful. No one wants to feel like they're an engine for turning a pile of paper in an in-box into a pile of paper suitable for an out-box. You must be careful not to micromanage.
Many who are promoted from technical/service positions into management show up with a "I've got to get work done" outlook. When a they enter management they won't feel soo much like they're getting anything done because they SHOULD be leading others.
Do yor best to stay out of peoples hair when they're working productively, afterall, they were the same as you before your promotion and you wouldn't want your boss micromanageing you.

So, let's see,
GOOD:
Free Meals
Free Health Insurance (that's better than mine, you wouldn't belive the co-pay on a major surgery, yet a million buck heart transplant is 100% covered for a prisioner sitting on death row...wish I had a link handy)
Free Housing
Free Videogames
Free Sex (Assuming you're down with the gang rape.)
Downside:
Gets borring being in the same place all the time (hmmm.. anyone else work an office job like me?)
GangRape
Hey, soon these things will be small enough to implant. What's that thing on Andromeda called, a sub-dermal implant.
Put the chip next to the ear and it won't need a whole hell of a lot of power for output to the user. Imagine a world where you won't be bothered by some kid and their Brittney Spears ringtone going non-stop durring a movie you paid good money to enjoy.
Cell phone conversations will be held at whisper quiet levels.
A line to whatever is trying to pass for emergency services is alway available.
Then again, tin hat types... imagine the invasion of privacy potential.
Combine the cellphone on a chip w/ GPS on a chip and a self-locating bug in a very small package will be a reality. Cell phones are perfect to use as bugs, the signal is just about everywhere, and you won't have to stick close to your target as long as your target is in range of a cell network. The cells can transmit data as well as voice, so the GPS will report all the comings and goings of the survailed. But, then again, I wore something like this for years before I was enrolled in the battle school, no biggie.
You know, if I could get a phone that worked as a phone, wherever I went, no droped calls, no missed calls, decent battery life, and smaller than a breadbox I won't really give a damn if it dosen't butter my toast for me.
It turned out persperation from the cell phone users seriously degraded the integrity of both the units "casing" and the cicrcuitry inside as the overall unit began to deform.
It's okay, we've got a few things up our sleves to take care of that problem.... We can fire up our own butlerian jhiad, or just call in NEO, or we can page that Sarah Connor lady and her kid.

So, the grand prize isn't $1,000,000? Do they call it the $1,000,000 contest because that's what the license is worth? If that's the case, it's a serious scam, in my book. I understand the value of a license, but I know most people thought the prize was actually the money... not just $50,000, but the whole million.
Speaking of the prize, come tax time will the winners have to declare $1,000,000 in income? Valueable goods (a software licens) is as taxable as cold hard cash. A million $US would put anyone into the top tax bracket, and with only $50,000 cash the winner could be in for a big suprize come tax time!
I beg to differ, ever try using shortcuts on anything other than a QWERTY?
A BIG problem with switching to Dvorak is most common keyboard shortcuts aren't convenient.
Imagine stretching your fingers over the keyboard to do a Ctrl-C Ctrl-V (or Cmd-C Cmd-V for those folks using MACs).
Most shortcuts are not remapable and were coded with QWERTY in mind. They would not make sense on a keyboard layout that is radically different from QWERTY.
Yeah, a month or two. In that time the HIGH BANDWITH COMMERCIAL SERVER seed A FEW DOZEN COPIES A DAY over bittorent, and with CLIENT-CLIENT transers total completed downloads could number 50 a day. Say it takes a full billing cycle on the credit card before the rightful owner notices it, calls their bank, and disputes the charge. It takes the bank 12-24 hours to process the stuff on their end. The torrent-trackers bank takes an additional 24 hours to notify them, and it takes another day or 2 for the account to be locked (opportunity give for the customer to explain what's going on.) Total time 30-34 days. That's the potential for upwards of a THOUSAND copies of a 700MB DIVX copy of a movie to be spread about.
NOTE: I am LOWBALLING my estimate of the ISP/Torrent-Trackers bandwith.
Of course, mercury is a toxic metal. Such a dip is likely to be fatal (but not as fast as suffocation/asphixia)
