I wish I had moderator points right now, because this is your answer.
I have several friends who have published, or are about to be published. It's not an easy task, and if you don't break out of that not telling anyone you'll get nowhere.
When I pay for gaming entertainment, I want a game, something fun. This is why I bought a Wii. Companys can focus on the fun factor and not have to blow me away with showy graphics.
Some of the comments there say that someone else will just pull ahead of you. Ahem, they will then get tickets. That's the point. Then they complain that they're close for a minute and get tickets, well, this complaint and the first complaint are opposites.
There is definitely abuse for this problem. At 55 mph you are traveling 80.6 fps, so at the suggested 2 sec lag you are traveling 160+ ft behind the car in front of you, plenty of room for cars. You are in the center lane, some bozo from the left lane that just passed you cuts between you and the car in front, but closer to you. You pass the cop before you can ease off and give yourself distance. The guy in front is 1.6 sec behind the car in front, and you're only.4 sec behind behind him... guess who's going to get a ticket for tailgating.
I couldn't reply to Taco when he bitched in his Journal, but I can here.
See, before web browsers came out with these great things called tabs, you could open pages in seperate windows, and the seperate windows have the title of the page. And amazingly, browsers still have this feature.
So web apps get thier own window and all the web browsing goes in seperate tabs in it's own window. Easy seperation for alt/apple-tabing between applications.
I don't know if it's the best, but I'm in the AVG Free camp myself. Auto-updating was big. nice side effect that you can't really turn that part off. I work on family and friends computers, and I've started dropping this on thier computers. Espically when I'm working on them because of a virus. That way I know if I have to work on the computer again, it shouldn't be because they've contracted another virus.

Thankfully slashdotter was released. It does a good job of mitigating the pinkness. I've switched to Politics as my view and it overwrites the pink just fine.
Do need to file a bug report though, it doesn't handle the headings on the left hand menu.
I'm sure that all the fansubbed Japanese language versions of the film floating the internets isn't making them hurry the thing out the door either.
How assinine is this comment? It's called supply and demand. If 10% of the people who download this purchase the DVD you've likely paid for translation costs. Then add in all the folks who love the game itself who aren't into downloading stuff off the net.
But wait... downloaders are pirates, and we never pay for anything I forgot. Where's my article moderation points.
How about an eaiser explination. There was a forum I was reading where they were complaining that Rose looked to be a love intrest for the Doctor. I'm not sure I saw it that much just in 'Rose', but we'll see. But my though was it's getting to the point where he needs a love intrest so he can have a child, which he can then play geames with time, pick him up when he's older and then go off to "die".
No reason the son can't just be called "The Doctor" as well.
I guess it depens on where you are. Here in SE Virginia out community colleges (TCC) teach both the theroy based classes needed for the CS degree. And the pratical application classes (MIS/IT) that you are describing.
TCC even offers an Associates in Computer Science, but again as others have said, this is a theroy based degree.
You exaggerate greatly since I just paid $1300 for my daughter to attend the spring semester at our Community College. Hell $15k will get you half way though a state college at in-state tuition rates.
It's not a copywrite issue. You can copywrite the written rules, you can copywrite the art, you can trademark the name. But you can't copywrite the mechanics of the game.
I can see certian sites might have issues. gnocatan because they use the word Catan in thier name. JavaSettlers... maybe, probably be shakey. Sea3D should be pretty safe. S3D specifically created a new art set for all thier stuff so that there would be no copywrite issues there, and none of them have word for word rules copying.
Take a look at http://www.s3dconnector.net/. Online play is free, the only downside is there is no bots, all human players. They've been arround for a while and have a small community going.
I guess that depends on how fast you read. But I'll concede that you are right, I spend about $8 on a book and read it at lunches and before bed over 2ish weeks. so maybe 16-20 hours for a average 500-700 page novel.
3-5 hours a week is 12-20 hours a month. So you're looking at a cost of $1.25-$0.75/hr. Find me another form of entertainment that's that cheap. People don't play more than one MMO for very long. And it's not the cost, you simplily can't dedicate your self in that manner. It's hard to only dedicate that small time your saying, becuase your peers who play more will outstrip you. Sure someone who started later will come up behind you and you can play with them, but they will also surpass you if they are playing more. Then your stuck in a situation of not playing with other people... well you might as well be not playing an MMO.
And there's a good reason for it. Things in the mainstream are overdone.
But lets talk Halo2. I won't be buying it. Forgetting the fact that I do not own an XBox the reason I won't buy it is that it's an FPS. I gave then up a long time ago when they became mainstram, because everyone and thier brother put them out.
Halo 2 may be a great game. It may be the best FPS ever created. But FPSs probably stopped being original back with Quake. Wolfenstien "created" the genre, Doom made movement free form and outside the boxes, and Quake created truely 3d maps. Everything from then on has been graphics updates, new weapons, new themes, but nothing really original.
I wasn't thinking rover. I guess when I read landing site I assumed they were looking for a landing site for a manned mission. And yes some planning can go up front before you know where you land. But they probably aren't going to launch w/o knowing, and then you have to get the launch windows for the transit... which are what 9mos apart?
Like I was saying, a man on Mars by 2010 probably isn't happening.
Call me again in 2 years after it's taken it's first photo...
300 days till launch 7 months to orbital insertion, and 6 months before it reachs a stable operational orbit.
so it's 2006 before we get a photo, and probably mid to late 2007 before a spot is chosen... and then they'll start planning a mission... guess we're going to miss that 2010 date...
Isn't this the same type of flower that was recently on/. for being the biggest blossom. If I remember correctly that was in England somewhere... but is it really that important that we have one blooming when they actually bloom all the time.
this article which is obviously written by someone who is not very familar with software licenses. (The article says about the GPL that it "obligates developers to make their modifications available to the public." That is incorrect. If you distribute a GPL-licensed program to someone, you have to make sure that the recipient can get the source code.
This is correct, but you're kinda missing the forest for the trees. In the application that the code described in the artice is going to be used... yes... they would have to release any modifications to the code. They are going to make changes to the operating system of thier device and market that device with this new code. So in the GPL world they are now obligated to make the code available. I don't think there's many people out there making OS changes for a PDA that they're not going to distribute.

I think he was refering to people taking highly rated comments from the last discussion, and posting them into this discuss.
Most people willing to put out the $600 investment this requires likely have a camera worth more than that. And those cameras have a flash shoe.

It also comes in a 400 model w/ only 4 camera inputs... but that's the version I use.
Works like a champ and I just monitor it on occasion to make sure it's running properly.
