  1. Re:Senator Biden is my Senator on Sneaking DRM Amendments Through the Back Door · · Score: 0, Flamebait

Yes, a vote cast for a Democrat is a vote for our country to slide right down into the sewer. Much like a vote for improving our nation, our quality of life and attempting at maintaining our civil liberties is a vot to slide right down into the sewer. We should indeed start voting for such fine, moral, and upstanding politicians that associate themselves with the Republican Party, for those are the truly righteous folk of our nation, they never line their pockets with the money of big business to sacrifice the good of the American people, nor do they ever lay waiste to the Bill of Rights, ahh George Bush, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich, Dubya, Dick Cheney, John Ashcroft, these are my hereos those Men who truly look out for my best interests. ...and if you believe that i have some beach side property in Arizona to sell you...

I may be mistaken but I believe there are more than just two varieties (flavors) of UNIX. Though, BSD and V are the two main distro's in use today, there have been a vareity of UNIX versions since it's inception. To discount LINUX because it is a port of UNIX to the x86 machine opposed to being directly built on it is narrow minded and a mistake, I believe.

  3. DOD, DARPA and Inovation on DoD Dreams of Efficient Spectrum Usage · · Score: 4, Interesting

The DOD and DARPA have a long history of bringing about technical innnovation, regardless of how slowly it comes into actual being, the very medium we are using (or abusing) right now is a result of that... unfortunately given the fact that i am at "work" right now, i can attest that they are not interested in efficency, mine is dropping like a rock... I have to say the perfect motivator is in fact beer, good, dark, beer, mmm, non-domestic, mmm... *whipes drool*, however after consuming it all motivation other than to fornicate is destroyed. so unless you are building your business model around distributing good beer as a reward and having your employees fornicate you are probably out of luck.

  7. Unfortunately you have forgotten the Alliance on The Drone War · · Score: 1

This isn't quite true. Convential and modern wisdom still hold that you can't win a war with out ground troops. Though air power can be quite benificial and powerful without troops to hold the ground/capture it, war cannot be won. What of Afgahnistan? Well, we have forgotten about the Northern Alliance and Eastern Alliance. Both deployed substantial ground troops and lost substantial numbers of ground troops to win the war in Afgahnistan.

3rd What the fuck, in Trial's and Tribulations (DS9) the conversation with Warf about the early Klingon explorers was completly ignored by this episode.
4th im just generally kinda disapointed in the show as a Star Trek, and the whole not being carried on a real network.

  10. Re:Monopolies self destruct? on All Aboard The Technological Revolution · · Score: 1

Wrong. The AT&T Monopoly was not just becuase of the government enforced ban on competitive retail telephones. It was because AT&T owned the wires, all the infrastructure, and had been in place so long no one thought of competing. The reason that AT&T was busted up was because of their monolithic growth and because, through their monopoly, they were beginning to infringe on the basic rights of the customer. Hence the justice department investigation and the Congressional hearings, and to some degree the relative pain that the customer suffers with multiple carriers and bills, etc. etc.

You are absolutely correct this guy offers regergetated nonsense and passes it off as internet insights. The very idea that monoplies are good things is foolish, and the thought that they self destruct is ridiculous. Standard Oil, US Steel, AT&T, none of these would have selfdestruced had the government left them alone. Too bad right wingers can't wrap there head around ideas of right (correct) and wrong.

  16. Let us pray on RIAA To Target CD-R · · Score: 1

Let us all hope, pray, and perhaps protest. We, US citizens, can idley watch as we are subjugated any further. The idea that the RIAA might selectively target CD burners because they allow "their" music to be copied is ridiculous. This is just one more example of corporations slipping their tentacles around the now semi-defunct US government. This has gone on long, and far enough. I will not have my rights to enjoy music, or any other art, nor my right to own a CD burner for legitamate purposes revoked. Nor will i watch and allow a tax that has no real benefit but to narrow the control of music to the RIAA further be passed. Not only the idea of having to pay handsomely for music repulsive. But with the RIAA and the government in cahouts (sp) together how far away are we from watching our 1st Amendmant rights be widdled into nothingness and censorship rules. Remember what Locke said: Petition, Protest, Revolution. Perhaps we are on the verge of Revolution....
