The Independent is reporting that he might have fainted and stumbled onto the road before getting hit.
Also, Anyone else wonder how someone managed to hit him, drive away and not realize it? I understand he was hit by a lorry and not a smart car, but I remeber a few years ago I hit a cat and I sure felt it.
Wanna hear something even more crazy? The "Basic" Voicemail only allows you to have 3 messages for something like 48 hours. If you want more than 3 messages, you have to upgrade to another tier.
It gets worse. You can't get the bundles if its a corporate phone, only if its a personal phone. So if your a corporate customer you can't get the $20 package with Caller ID, Voice Mail, unlimited text and unlimited web. You need to get them all separate, except you can't get a unlimited text plan or unlimited data plan on a corporate plan. Text Messages are per use, in and out. And Data will cost you $40 for 8 MB a month.
Its actually quite surprising that they just didn't just change the meaning of "unlimited" and left the customers with massive bills when without their knowledge they went 2 GB over limit.
Its also surprising that people have been able to get online streaming or voice over ip working on their Telus cards, the ones we have in the office are pretty much just fast enough for email and very light web surfing.
I went from buying multiple CD's every Tuesday, to rarely buying CD's at all. The main reason is all the record stores started selling all other types of crap and now only have one or two top 40 albums a week. Its pretty sad when half of the dozen albums in the 'New Release' section are a couple of months old. In the last year I've only been able to find two new CD's that I wanted. So unless its on iTunes, I'm pretty much going to pirate it and if I really like it I'll track down the Vinyl off the net.
I would argue the opposite. I would imagine that the cable companies love these high priced boxes. Where I live you can either buy a HD-PVR for $600 (or rent for $20/month), or a HD box for $350 (or $12/month). Once you have shelled out the money to buy two HD-PVRs you are very unlikely to change service provider, no matter how bad their service is.
Which reminds me I need to downgrade my 25 Mbps/$100 per month Internet service as the traffic shaping has got so bad that I can't watch a live video stream and my vonage has become almost unusable.
I have a 17" monster and its great. I split my work time pretty evenly between the office, home and the road. At both the office and at home it docks with a 24" monitor and the 17" screen works well as a 1900x1200 second monitor. When on the road the screen is nice and big when at the hotel, and works well on the airplane.
my first question is - why are those rates paltry? What makes them worth their current amount of money in the first place? Not to troll, just everyone thinks they deserve more money, yet how do they justify it. Do they have training? degrees? etc $13/hr is more than min wage and say is $19/hr
For me it comes down to exactly those things. Training, experience, and a degree are important. I made more than $19/hr serving table while I was in University. I went to school to better myself, if I expected to be paid less I won't have bothered. Of course I make decent money and am in a very stable small company so I guess something worked.
That's not true the University of Victoria has a Software Engineering Degree program. At the end you get an B.Eng and an iron ring. As a recent Computer Science graduate from said school enrollment in both programs has got so low that they have had to cut back and now include a 80% overlap.
I paid $400 for a low end player in late 1999. It was stereo and S-video. The worst part about the stupid thing was subtitles were on by default and you couldn't turn them off from the remote. You had to go into the menu every time and turn them off.
......more important than St. Nick is 'an area thought to contain one-fifth of the world's undiscovered and recoverable oil and gas resources,' and from this map, Russia has a huge claim in that.
And that, boys and girls, is why the next world war will be fought between Russia and China.
When did Denmark become a Chinese allie? I guess Genghis Khan and the Viking both wore hats with horns.
DVD came out in I think late 1997, but I don't remember them really starting to catch on until mid 1999. I think VHS even outsold DVD until about 2002-2003.
Blue-ray came out two years ago and the first 3/4 it was unknown if the format would even win. Now the economy has gone pear shaped which isn't going to help things. I'd say its going to take another 18 months until it really catches on.
Watching SD television is just painful on a Big Tv,period. The 'feature' I wish my 47" 1080p Tv has was an option to scale the image to about 27". Seriously some channels like FOXSportsWorld and Setanta are just plain ugly.
Where I live they are trying to ban water in plastic single-use bottles right now city wide. Its one of the stupidest thing I have ever heard. They keep using the bottle vs tap water argument, where as I see it as bottle water vs bottled cola. By banning bottled water city hall is not going to have people drinking tap water, but instead they will just switch to single use bottles of cola and energy drinks.
In my own experience is scary how much information you can get here in Canada. My grandmother was in the hospital a few weeks ago, and they wanted to know what medication she was on. I didn't know so I called the pharmacy near her house and asked for a list of all the drugs she was on. The kind person gave me all the information by simply giving her name. While I was happy at the time to be able to that information I was somewhat shocked by how easy it was.
Well at least you'll have an accuse for drunk dialing your ex girlfriend. "The phone did it honest, I was trying to call Josh, but while your on the phone I miss you, do you miss me too..." CLICK "... are you still there? Hello? Hello? Stupid iPhone Shuffle!"
Maybe apple is bringing back rotary dialing. You spin the click wheel on the back and the dial spins on the screen on the front. Hopefully it will make all the clicking sounds that those old phones did.
Sounds like my ISP. They never except any blaim. A few months ago my Internet goes out. I call me brother 4 blocks away and his is down as well. I verify with a coworker that his Internet is down as well. I then call tech support wait on hold for thirty minutes. When I ask when Internet will be back in my area they claim everything is fine and try to talk me through the "check your modem, are you using a router? etc.." lines. After trying to explain that the problem isn't just me the tech insists that I unplug my router and do all their silly tests. The tech finally agrees to check for outages in my area is I first try all his tests. I reluctantly agree, and surprise surprise the person on the phone can't solve my problems by direct connecting my computer, unplugging and replugging everything. After all this the person on the phone tells me there isn't any reported outages in my area and I must be wrong. They offer to go through the unplugging and resetting again and if that didn't work they would schedule a tech to come out set me up. At that point I couldn't be polite anymore and said I couldn't waste any more of my time with them. I called my brother and his internet was still down and he had given up on his phone call as soon as they wanted him to test his hardware. My internet came back the next day, and now when my internet goes out I just go to the office if I really need it. Thank God for the lack of any competition.
From my experience with Iridium everyone else on the plane is most likely going to kill you. The unit we have in our office almost requires the user to yell into the phone for the other person to understand what your saying. That and almost everything has to be repeated as the call quality is so low.
I have often wondered what the legality is when a company changes their rates or services to a signed contract. In Canada there is a big fuss right now as I think tomorrow two of the three main mobile companies are going to start charging for incoming txts.
My main problem with mobile companies right now is that companies can not get personal plans or add ons. Up here in Canada you can get unlimited data for $15/month and unlimited txts for $10/month, but if its in a company name you pay $25/month for 4MB, and $10/month for 100 txts.
I've had the similar problem with calling 911 for non emergency where I live. My problem is defining what is an emergency. Where I live pan handlers have been getting more and more aggressive. To the point where they will grab you on the arm and ask for money. I called 911 over this once, was told that was not an emergency and I shouldn't be calling about that. Another time two drug addicts having sex in a downtown park in the middle of the day, nope that was not an emergency either. Some guy trying to sell me crack on the main street, nope I shouldn't have called about that.
I haven't seen a Movie in the theaters for years. Most people I know don't go anymore either. It has nothing to do with downloading, but it has everything to do with price of large HD televisions coming down. Its simply much more enjoyable to sit at home and watch a movie. I don't have to put up with crap popcorn, people talking through the movie, middle class high school gangsters, mobile phones going off or being bombarded with ads. I might not get to see the latest and greatest movies, but at least by the time I get to see them I have a pretty good idea what is good, and what just had a big ad budget.
Most people are under 2 meters tall, and between 50cm and 100cm wide..
100cm Wide? I know a third of Americans are Obese, but 100 cm is massive. I'm about average and only 45 cm wide

Its actually 3 messages for 3 days, but still pathetic: http://www.telusmobility.com/on/services/pcs/mini_voice_mail.shtml

Its been around for about five years

Prices would seem less expensive so I'm sure the Petrol Stations would like it.
