Yes I have.
I've used both firefox and IE, and I must say that IE renders pages correct every single time, whereas with firefox I often have to refresh the page just to make everything appear properly.
Speedwise, I say they are the same. I have not noticed any difference in either's page load times.
Now IE may be attacked by phishers and spam junkies all the time, but that is only because of its huge market share. If FF continues to grow in useage, it is obvious that its faults will be exploited more. And with it being open source, the wierdoes that go around doing this sort of thing will find it far easier to create exploits for FF than they do now for IE.
Maybe this post will be rate -1 because it's pro MS, but quite frankly, I don't care. There's nothing wrong in pointing out facts. FF can be a lot more weak than IE.
Yup, and the Apple version would cost 3 times as much, break down after a few game "cycles" and need to be sent back to apple for replacement/repair every few months, all costs being payed by the customer.
This thing may look crap, but at least it isn't an Apple product! They shouldn't insult themselves by trying to copy apple - apple products are over-rated, in every aspect.
I think it is rather primitive that people believe so firmly in a creator, without even a scrap of proof or evidence, that they would go to massive lengths to discredit something based on evidence, ie evolution. There is plenty of evidence that points to homo sapiens developing from homo erectus, and lesser primates.
The difference between science and religion is that science is based on evidence. If evidence was uncovered to show that humans were created by a big purple dinosaur, then scientists and those who believe in science would accept the conclusion, and move away from evolution. Religious people however will never do this, and that is the inherent flaw of religion. Thank god (it's an expression) we don't live in the Middle Ages any more! Otherwise scientists would all be burned at the stake.
Another example of religious imotility: Back in the 16th century, before Galileo, one monk in Rome said that god was so powerful and magnificent that he would have created several other worlds throughout the [heavens]. The power obsessed clergy promptly had him burned at the stake for such "blasphemy". Again how primitive.
Worryingly, we seem to be moving more and more backwards in the way society thinks. People are slowly seeming to trust more in superstition than in visible fact, and that is dangerous. It was the same principle mechanism that led to the rise of the Nazis. I sincerely hope that children are taught to make conclusions based on observation and evidence rather than on fantastical stories. If not, we will end up far worse than the Middle Ages.
Ah but that isn't a "problem" in the behavioural or social interaction sense. It is obvious that the bed wetting is a genetic trait. If one was raised by a middle class family with good values and one by a working class family with poor social values (I'm not in any way implying that all working class people have low values) and then their attitude towards society, adherence to law, and control of agression etc can be compared based on upbringing.
If both turn out to be delinquants, it will be genetic based, if the middle-class one is a better person and contributes more to society, and the other one ends up involved in crime etc, then it will be parental values that is most important.
That would be an interesting study, but highly unethical and therefore impossible, and rightly so.
Children learn most from their parents. They spend the most time with their parents during the important periods of growth and development, of both body and mind ie, birth to 18 (at least up to 15/16 anyway).
Therefore, it is parents who influence the behaviour and attitudes of children the most, and so MOST blame for disruptive or aggressive children lies squarely on the parents shoulders.
Well your comment shows me exactly what kind of person you are: "Would they have done it if the US had not been overthrowing governments and propping up pro-american dictators in the region?" I stopped reading at that point.
You are defending the acts of terrorists. Maybe you are from Egypt or Saudi or maybe you oppose some middle eastern countries' American sponsored governments, but for you to blatantly create excuses for the actions of murderous extremist terrorists brings me to the conclusion that there is no point in talking to you. I will not continue to argue with someone who condones the actions of barbaric inhuman terrorists.
My lack of further response is neither because I accept your reasoning or your arguments. I disagree with every single thing you have said above, and I will not continue writing here to someone such as you.
China may have a nuclear arsenal, but it is quite obvious that they aren't going to be the agressors in a nuclear war. They are the ones who will retaliate with nuclear weapons, not initiate.
Which democratic state is China planning to attack pray tell? Germany? Italy? India? I don't think so. Ah yes Taiwan - well that always was part of China, and the only reason it is separate is because all the greedy, corrupt and extortionate classes and aristocracy of the old empire before the revolution fled there to continue opressing the majority, and avoid trial by the new authorities, just as large numbers of the same people, mafia, prostitution ring gang leaders etc. fled to the US after the Cuban revolution.
Let us for a moment forget about planning and look at something far worse - actually attacking a democratic country, or their assets.
Saudi Arabia: 19 of the 20 terrorists of September 11th were Saudis. They killed over 3000 innocent people.
Yemen: yemenis attacked the USS Cole back in 1998 or whenever it was, killing more US service men and women.
Now your next point about oppressing other people: In Sudan, government sponsored Islamic militas are systematically wiping out the non-Muslim southern ethnic tribes. Genocide. Genocide. I have not heard anywhere, not even on the most far right wing, anti China website, that China is doing the same thing, or anything even close.
You want to talk about people who are "occupying their neighbouring peoples and destroying their national identity, language and religion while ripping off their natural resources" How about the US? What happened to the Native Americans pray tell. And how about the Spanish and Portugese: What happened to South America pray tell? How about the Europeans and Americans, and the slavery imposed on Africans. Their religions were banned, their languages were banned, their countries were plundered and their people were taken into slavery to serve their new "masters".
And about blaming foreigners: all the countries I've listed blame foreigners for their own totalitarian problems. All the countries I listed on my first post are totalitarian regimes, and all of their governments blame the West, America, or Israel and the Jews for their problems. If everyone in the world was as naiive as you my friend, I wouldn't give our democratic civilisations much long to last before being destroyed.
You just cannot hide behind the pretext of "domestic social ills" to justify the problems with our own countries and other countries which we support and in which we prop up corrupt regimes so long as we can get their oil, while still criticising other countries which do the exact same things for being "unappologetic and imperialist." Perhaps that is why you fail to see the wrongs done by Western countries in the past - because now they "appologise" for them. Would you stop criticising China if they made an announcement saying they are sorry for the mistakes they have made?
History and traiditions: Taiwan historially and traditionally was part of China, for thousands of years into the past, longer than the existance of most other countries in the world, therefore the tensions between the China and Taiwan are just domestic social ills, by your very own logic. Also, America was never part of Britain and Brazil etc were never part of Portugal until the areas of land and the peoples inhabiting them were captured. Therefore, the problems in America and South America, and those that have existed since capture, such as slavery, are unappologetic imperialist aggressions, and therefore was completely wrong, and inhumane. And they were for a long period, until independence, under ruthless foreign occupation - or have you forgotten that? Again, your own logic serves my points perfectly.
We in the West have moved on from occupation and hostility, in general, but that doesn't mean that none of our past actions never existed, or that none of our past injustices against entire ethnic communities all
Ah another furore about China. Add that to internet filtering of North Korea and Vietname too. (sarcasm)
Everyone complains about China and other asian countries, yet no one says anything about the filtering in the united arab emirates, saudi arabia, yemen, sudan, egypt etc. All those middle eastern and african counties. Perhaps its because most of the countries supply oil? Their human rights records are abysmal, and their internet censorship, media black outs, and press restrictions are far worse than China. Yet it's China this and China that. There is no need to defend China, but at least be fair about the criticism, and criticise proportionally to the level of injustice. Those countries listed in this paragraph deserve far more criticism and attention from the media in our world than China.
I've only seen the first few episodes of enterprise 4, but I must say that the story arc of the augments was just stupid. I dont understand why they had to drag out the story into three parts when two would have been sufficient. The second half of the first episode in the arc and the first half of the second episode seemed to be just padding. The remaining havles should have been merged to make the first episode.
I just saw the third episode today, and I must say it was excellent. The acting was very good from all involved. There was plenty of action, and there was even enough time for exploration of tpol-tucker relationship and the tsun-malik dynamic as well. Well written who ever did it - am I right in assuming it was Cotto?
I think Enterprise's failure lay in the first three seasons. It just was a complete load of rubbish. Although season 3 was better than 1 and 2, it was far too hectic. The whole "wondering what's gonna happen next episode" in 24-style was just inappropriate so early in the series. That could have been done in a season 5 or 6, once a strong and stable following of viewers was established.
The very first episode itself was just too corny. Both seasons 1 and 2 just had no susbstance, nothing seemed to be achieved. And all the time travel was just pointless! How can new viewers be expected to be attracted to the star trek franchise if a large proportion of the story material requires experience from pervious series? And whatever happened to exploration? And why do they use the transporter so much? I thought it had only just been developed. They use it so regularly its just like being with Kirk, and the rest of the captains from him onwards.
Almost anyone on the street knows the terms "Vulcan", synonymous with Spock, and "Klignon". Paramount should have focussed on these two races, and humans in the Enterprise series. If the focus was with human exploration of these races, with meeting other characters from the alpha quadrant, such as the Romulans, more with the Andorians, and also exploration of other planets, the series would have been far stronger and nicer, and more enjoyable. People who have never been interested in science fiction would have been drawn to startrek if they had done this.
We aren't talking about people without papers. We are talking about people who come to the West solely to destroy our society and commit acts of terrorism, with the main aim of killing as many innocent civilians as possible. These people come here not because they are being persecuted, but because they want to exploit our generous welfare systems. Granted, not everyone is like this, but it is right and just just to send them back to wherever they came from.
With regards to world poverty, if the people of a country work hard, they can get themselves out of poverty. Throwing money at them from our hard earned salaries is not going to solve anything. In fact, it only makes things worse. Tell me, is the West rich because they were given money? The people who gave the West money must have been really rich indeed, perhaps aliens? or gods? They are rich because they worked hard and developed themselves. I think people who sit around whining about the West not giving enough of their money to other countries are just playing the victim card and trying to blame someone else for their problems.
The sooner they get over it, the sooner the world will be a better place.
Patenting algorithms on which the company is based does not matter so much.
I do think though that they have broken the "do no evil" ideology by exploiting the way taxes are calculated. With a salary of $1 they can pay like 30c tax on that, and keep a much larger proportion of their earnings via the stock dividens. Saddening that they would sink so low really.
I just don't understand why authorities didn't simply call his bank and ask them to verify that they did actually print these $2 bills for him specially, and that they were legal. Seems a bit stupid to just assume the worst, ignore the guy's story, and just throw him in jail!
Not only does spam make your inbox a place to worry about, it also adds unecessary and resource wasting load onto the internet as a whole. We have enough problems with the now ageing basic infrastructure of the internet without the extra load from spam and spim.
70% of emails are spam - this is a strong and clear message to all those other social misfits around the world that gaining pleasure and money from tormenting others will not be tolerated! Damn good for Virginia, and the rest of us in the world.
Although I do agree with your point that it is so easy to trace because of the fact that it was outsourced, but I must say that this sort of day-light robbery is more likely to happen when people are far away and think that they can get away with it, as staff at outsourcing firms are.
I believe that the integrity of those that are employed for outsourcing contracts must be one of the first things to consider before letting them handle sensitive account information. This sort of thing has not happened to a great extent in other countries, dare I say, in the West.
Outsourcing can only be bad for the countries that are doing the outsourcing. Skills are transferred from these countries to countries like India, and then the experience and know-how is lost from the countries in which they were developed. It all comes down to costs, and basically western currencies allow you to buy less in the west than it does in developing countries. Why is this? I believe it is because the West is just too capitalist. Eastern capitalism is probably better, because it means that everything costs a lot less, so western countries pay people in the east much less money than they would have to pay europeans or americans, and get the same work done. If things here were cheaper, then people here could be paid less as well, and the need for outsourcing would just disappear.
It seems that russian technology is far better. The 50 year old Soyuz is much much more reliable and safe than the high-tech NASA shuttles. I think the new crew delivery system from NASA has to go back to basics and be created from the ground up.
Fair play, I bet there is a large enough market for it. It's like the Citroen car ads where the car turns into a transformer robot and does a dance to some groovy mussssak.
You'll know about this if you live in the UK.
This is just getting silly. The entire article just irritated me so much.
If you are stupid enough to give your bank details to someone you dont know, if you are gullible enough to download some file which "will give you a chance of winning 20 million dollars" then you deserve whatever rubbish you get.
It's called common sense, and it seems a lot of people just don't have any. No one ever told me not to give personal details and credit card numbers over the internet, I reasoned it out using logic!
With the majority of internet users this stupid, it is obviously that they don't know the meaning of spyware or "trojan". Another thing to note is that if they think that "spyware" is something to do with spying on their partners, it shows where their mind is focussed anyway. Probably why they don't bother thinking about their own safety when online.
Come on, why on earth would anyone want to watch a movie about giant robots, except maybe the pokemon-age brats around the world. (heh I used to love pokemon, but the important thing is, I don't anymore!).
Making the servers more efficient, use less power, and therefore run cooler will probably be better in my opinion. Cooling rooms costs more and with people moving in and out of the rooms, there are major shifts of air, bring warm/hot air in and taking cool air out. This means even more energy has to be used to cool down the room to optimum levels again. The problem is only worse in the summer!
The only case for hot servers and cool rooms is probably in the arctic/canada/antarctica. Here its cold enough to just cool the rooms, as even in the summer the ambient air temperature outside is pretty low, and can be lowered to the optimum temperature for the servers, if required, very easily, with little energy being used, and therefore with little cost.
I'd like to know why this was 0'd? Simply stating a few facts. Just as I predicted anyway.
Yes I have. I've used both firefox and IE, and I must say that IE renders pages correct every single time, whereas with firefox I often have to refresh the page just to make everything appear properly.
