Although I am a mac user, and happen to be heterosexual (or zero-sexual, as this is slashdot), the parent gets the award for funniest responce of the day.
For someone who makes some of the most intuitive games on the market (Katamari), I cant believe how much of an ignorant fuck he comes off as. I would have thought that he would have been one of the first few designers to embrace the Revolution. I can only imagine playing the Katamari games on the Rev controller. The controller's motion sensors would be the main method of moving around in the game. Instead, Takahashi has smashed my hopes and dreams.
The good news is that I doubt that the loss of one (potential) game will hurt the console as a whole. I am sure that the PS3 will be just as mundane as the Xbox 360 (still a good console, but it is just a Xbox with better graphics, design, and online abilities). Because of this, the Revolution should provide a breath of fresh air once it is released. I can't wait for the first Zelda on the console, as I am 60% sure that the motion sensors on the controller will be used for Link's sword.
For those who are not certain about the Revolution, just remember that most of the games on the 360 and PS3 will be sequels, reprints, and rip-offs. This is not to say that the aforementioned consoles will not have some great games (If history is any guide, Halo 3 will be an awesome game), but I am just tired of playing the exact same thing, even if it is in a different package.
The Nintendo DS is, in my opinion, the finest handheld ever made. It has solely changed how I play games. I can only hope that the Revolution will do the exact same thing.
Personally, I think that the only two companies that do things differently on the hardware side of things these days are Apple and Nintendo. Hats off to them.
Just because Bush did not tell you the exact reasons that he found Saddam a threat does not mean that he does not have reasons (be they good or bad). You are most definantly not his advisor and confidant when it comes to matters political, millitary, and international.
Don't get me wrong, I disagree with the war in Iraq on moral grounds. A single mission assasination on Saddam (if he was the problem) would have negated any need for a war of any sort. Saddam was one evil son of a bitch and he deserves to pay for what he did to thousands of his own citizens. We need to remember, though, that when you rip off the head, the body goes as well. If Saddam fell, I belive that his followers would soon have found themselfs alone and friendless living in some god forsaken hellhole in the middle of the desert. Starting a full scale war on Iraq was most definantly not the answer. Anyone with half a brain and 1/3 of a backbone could tell you that. Many people have died without rhyme or reason because of the war that was started.
Do not, however, think that Bush is stupid. He did not get where he is by having an IQ of 70. Bush is intelegent (not overly so, he still shows traces of apelike behavior). Kerry is also intelegent (but again, not overly so). Neither had the public speaking skills that one would expect out of someone with their level of education (college wise). Neither had any freaking idea about military strategy. I am sure, though, that if you sat down with either of them that they would come of no dumber than your average accountant, banker, lawyer, or childrens doctor. They are bolth lacking as far as presidential skills are concerened though (i.e. military strategy, public speaking, charisma, vocabulary, and political prowess).

OSX servers are above average, but if you will notice, not many people/bussinesses use them. OSX was designed for use as a desktop solution, not as a server OS.
I know people who swear by their OSX servers, but the fact is, (as previously stated) OSX is based on the Mach microkernel which is not intended for server use. Most people who buy Macs for use as a *nix machine understand the limitations of the Mac (i.e. server use). In addition, if you have money for a OSX machine, you most likely have money for a nice x86 machine to use as a server.
I would not try and defend an opinion that could possibly be vaild by calling 7000 hardware hackers and coding gods "fags". Please, use logic. OSX is FreeBSD with a fantastic interface, and a beautiful design. It also suports many of the programs that even the best of my fellow linux lovers must dual boot to use. OSX is a joy to use and is useable for work, pleasure, and everything in between. I dont want to come off as one of the feared "Mac Zelots," as I happen to love *nix as well, but I absolutly love my Powerbook. I have never used a finer computer.
As for OSX being for "fake" geeks, why dont you tell that to Tim O'Reilly, Paul Graham, or Trevor Blackwell. Despite how much you may hate Macs, many swear by them.
By the way, not only Mac users are "teh ghey." Just look in the freaking mirror.
The problem is that in terms of a portable system, a mini with baterys is not very practical. For the same cost one could purchase a basic iBook with over 2x the batery life.
If all it is being used for is to transport the mini from one monitor to another, it is even stranger. You can easily move an non-batery-packed mini from one monitor the the other. Using a normal mini would also allow for larger hard drive space and an optical drive.
I am all for technological development and hardware hacking, but this is rather pointless. On the other hand, it would be rather nice to have a transportable headless server.....
In my earlier post I may have come off as a troll, but really, this is just absurd. Sun cranks out tons "alternative" methods of getting things done in hope that one of them will catch on. Java caught on, so, they have decided to just keep trying to do things the way they came up with Java: "Better" another product and make the required amount of changes to avoid any patent or property disputes.
To me, Java was unbearable. Reading Java code is like attempting to find a needle in a haystack and then to volentairly stab yourself in the eye with it....repeadedly. Java is the messiest language that has ever become mainstream.
Java is essentially C without any order. It gave C somewhat of a bad rap because of the relation of the two languages. I really dont want to see this happen with Fortran, as it is a pleasure to write. Sun will once again destroy a once monolithic language.
Quite a few of you out there hate Macs so much that your judgement on this issue is clouded. You honestly can't complain when a company does what companies do. This was a bussiness move, not an invasion on free speach. I would be rather pissed off to if someone wrote a book about my life without getting my explict permission. Did you ever think that mabey, just mabey, Steve knows a bit more about bussiness than you do? What if he does not want the fact that he was using black boxes (I asume that is in the book, but it is just a guess) broadcast to the entire world? There are things about everyone that they would rather just keep behind the lines of mainstream knowlege...
This wont be hurting Wiley's sales. They are one of the bigger publishers. When I buy a technical book, I dont normally go down the local apple store. It is a shame if people think that apple took a swipe at Wiley's sales. This will not be hurting apple's sales either. If you are in an area metropolitan enough to have an apple store, book stores will be around every corner. When you go into an apple store, you normally dont do so just to buy books or such. Apple stores get 99% of their revinue from parts, computers, and services (ala repairs).
Give Steve a break. He is one of the most pompus people in the world, but he has a rite to be. Think about it, this guy marketed one of the first functional home computers and got away with it. Because of the two man team that was Steve and Woz, almost everyone with a computer has heard of the Mac. Steve is one of the most brilliant company CEOs out there. He is apple. Without Steve, who would have marketed the apple? Mac would not be a family name as it is now.
For gods sake, Jobs felt that the book cast him in an unsightly light, or if he felt that it dug up some skeletons in his closet, let him be. In the end, what is done is done. Boycotting Mac wont do anything at all. The Mac fans who read this wont stop buying because of this.

Mabey it is time you learned what the hell respect is. I bet you have never used a OSX based machine in your life. I can picture you sitting at your desk writing letters to your grandkids about how you cant get the new mouse to work.
Even as a hardcore FPS gamer, I must admit that Halo 2 is a decent game. I truely liked the origional. Basically, halo trys to be Quake/UT with a halflife meets AvP style storyline.
It fails.
It is a good game, and nothing else. It is no messiah for console gamers. If you want FPS's, buy a damn PC (and a copy of HL2).

Don't forget the shrink function ;)
The shift key is only several centemeters from home position. Give it a shot so next time you do not come off as another clueless idiot.

Does anyone know if this is for those sold up until the begining of May, or if it is all of May?
