    > Unless I am mistaken, or the NEW new-Math states otherwise, "44,000" is closer to "40,000" than "50,000".

Maybe they are including the 5000 telecomm workers laid off in July? That might bring the total to 49,000. Also worth noting that another 50,000 Americans did not get IT jobs because of the 50,000 h1bs brought into the US last year.

It's a common error to think that "h1b" visa is synonymous with "IT Worker", and you did not cite your source for your numbers.

    > IT Jobs have been CLIMBING steadily since 2004. From a low of around 3,250,000 IT Jobs in 2004, to around 4,100,000 IT Jobs in 2008

But those jobs are going to guest workers, not Americans. There are nearly 2 million guest workers in the USA right now.

Again, while your reply seems to be more popular than mine, you again produce uncited numbers, and how they are relevant to IT.

    > IT unemployment in the United States is at 2.2%

Could you cite your source on that?

My source is, again, page 30 of the July 14, 2008 issue of InformationWeek, they claim these numbers from the U.S. Bureaur of Labor Statistics.

    > India's unemployment rate is 7.2%

    Why is that relevant?

You are right, I should have mentioned that 7.2% is their overall unemployment rate. OUR overall is 5.7% as of July 2008. Same source, btw. It think how we stack up to one of our biggest competitors is QUITE relevant. Now, please produce the citations to back your claims, sir.

Unless I am mistaken, or the NEW new-Math states otherwise, "44,000" is closer to "40,000" than "50,000". The article seems to be a scare tactic right off the bat. NEARLY 50,000 IT JOBS LOST!!! It's NEARLY 45,000... but that is not as sensational as a big round 50,000! Is this the normal ebb and flow? Or is this a net loss for the year? U.S. IT Jobs have been CLIMBING steadily since 2004. From a low of around 3,250,000 IT Jobs in 2004, to around 4,100,000 IT Jobs in 2008. This is from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, page 30 of the July 2008 issue of InformationWeek. So how does a delta of 44,000 jobs make front page news? Because it causes Geeks to lose their minds? IT unemployment in the United States is at 2.2%, let's all just thank God for that. India's unemployment rate is 7.2%
