--Due to all the labor-intensive stuff involved (FOUR diferent companies involved in manufacture, not to mention shipping parts back and forth) I'd be *surprised* if anyone could do this at a "fraction" of the cost. In fact, sounds like the only way to make money on this idea is to sell the stuff in bulk.
--I *liked* the last Trek movie. Even if you hear bad reviews from friends, you should at least pay the matinee fee and see it yourself JIC it doesn't suck (for you.) For myself, I *KNEW* the Hulk would suck MONTHS before it came out. Now I know exactly how much I was right!:)
--I went in expecting it to suck, and it didn't. Only parts I had issues with were:
o HOW the f--k did they get into the base?
o The Terminatrix and Ah-nold are both underneath the door, TX is frustrated because she can't go after her two prime targets, and the TX's face morphs into something that looks right out of Lawnmower Man. I *hate* it when they do that.
--Otherwise, I enjoyed it - and I'll probably see it again. Unfortunately the sentiment isn't true for the Hulk and Charlie's Angels(FT), which both sucked Big Donkey Balls.
OBTW - it was nice seeing the psych doctor in a cameo. They put in a lot of nice nods to the past movies.
--I think TNN renaming themselves to "Spike TV" and calling themselves the "Network for Men" is just plain stupid. Their pathetic offering of "Stripperella" and the like only makes it worse.
--Attempting to cater to the lowest common denominator doesn't exactly do wonders for other countries' opinion of the US.
--He was good in "Six days seven nights" (1998 - http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120828 ) and even better in Air Force One (1997 - http://us.imdb.com/Title?0118571 ) which I consider as one of his best performances EVER. Before that, he was awesome in The Fugitive - but that was back in 1993.
--I played the Navy Pier Battletech as well... Most fun interactive-computing experience I ever had. They ran on Apple computers, IIRC - and that was probably 7 or 8 years ago.
> what UPS-monitoring software have people been successful in using under Linux, and which UPS's did it work with?
--Belkin UPS that I bought from Circuit City comes with Linux software but I'm not sure if recommending it is a good idea... Their Xwin monitor comes with a memory leak.:( I did notify them by email but that was like a year ago and I highly doubt they've done anything about it.
--FYI, you can also block popups with Opera. But I find that one of the best ways to block popups, ads, etc is to use Squid as a proxy server, with regexps matching various strings in URLs.

--It probably involves "Deus ex Machina"... http://bible.gospelcom.net/cgi-bin/bible?language= english&version=NIV&passage=revelation+1%3A6-8 :)
--Norman Spinrad also did an interesting take on Hitler, a book called "Iron Dream" or something like that.
--Damn, is this thread over now that Hitler has been mentioned?!
--Even if the gun won't *fire*, BadGuy(TM) can still hit HaplessCop(TM) over the head with the gun butt!
> Not a very good one.
--Now that's not very nice. I think the guy had a point, the manufacturers did it that way to copy Star Trek's "cool factor."
--Don't forget the Hammer, every man needs a BFH!!
:b)
(Oh, and a Phillips screwdriver if you work with computers.

--I echo that sentiment. If I were you I'd grab an Earthlink CD and use dialup rather than connect thru a hacked server even one more time!
