--Seriously, I'd much rather this type of sound application had an opt-in strategy. Intrusive ads can lead to a real invasion of privacy... This could be the New SPAM for advertisers.
--Now, that said... There was some speculation that the V'Ger probe came from the Borg. That could be what they're tying into, but I'm 99% sure they'll do it half-assed, and I'm not even planning on watching the episode.
--The Tribbles episode on DS9 was well done tho, in part because it was a TRIBUTE.
--This kind of stuff is what made David Drake's "Hammer's Slammers" (mercenaries book series) so interesting. It would definitely be compelling - if they did it right - but would it really be Star Trek? Having good writers is ESSENTIAL.
--I like your idea, but maybe they should try it out with a book series first. See how they do, then put out a MOVIE - then do the TV pilot.
--I don't know about you, but I'M worried about N. Korea.
--Personally I'm not *thrilled* with the prospect of war, but let's face a few things:
o The economy will probably start to improve now
o We're finishing the job, so to speak, that was started in the 90's - and left unfinished
o The Iraqi's should be thankful it's the *US* they're fighting. We've actually spread over 2 million leaflets over there, advising their military both HOW TO SURRENDER, and how to stay out of our way so they don't get wasted. Name *any* other country (except maybe Britain) that would try so hard to minimize casualties, both military and civilian.
--Geez. I'm not a hawk, but most of the anti-war posts I'm seeing on this article make me ill. W isn't perfect, but c'mon - this is a job that has been waiting for someone to come along and finish it. Klinton just didn't have the qualities (read: stones) needed for decisive leadership. --Actually I loved the movie (this is WAY before I read the book) and thought the casting was good too:
Dina Meyer....Pvt. Dizzy Flores
Denise Richards...Pilot Cadet Carmen Ibanez
Jake Busey....Pvt. Ace Levy
Neil Patrick Harris....Col. Carl Jenkins
Clancy Brown....Career Sgt. Zim
Michael Ironside....Lt. Jean Rasczak
--Can't see anything wrong there; altho it was slightly jarring to see Doogie Howser in a Nazi-type role.
--BTW, Dina Meyer as Dizzy Flores was my favorite char. Clancy Brown played his role excellently, and Michael Ironside I *still* admire for that role.:)

Gigi Edgely was the one I was talking about...
How about a Beowulf Cluster of embedded fanatical penguins carrying rocket launchers and posters of Natalie Portman covered in hot grits??

> I would *not* recommend bzip, however; too damn slow and processor intensive, even with a dedicated backup server. Simply not scalable.
--I'll second that. bzip2 gives good compression, but ' gzip -9 ' does it FASTER.
