They sure as hell terrorize me. I don't care about muslims or whatever coming to bomb me cause that's statistically never likely to happen, but cops coming to put me in jail for being different? Now there's something that might happen.
The only person who can really judge for you what's cool is you. To that end, and considering that 100% of KDE is pretty easily customizable, why don't you try bothering to make it cool instead of bitching about its default characteristics?
I completely agree. I mean, how many vulnerabilities do you think we'd see in IE if its source code were easily and freely available? I'm betting a hell of a lot more.
You're relying upon the assumption that computer users feel like spending even more money on software when they can get something that's good for free. Will an operating system that costs hundreds of dollars matter to the billions of people in india and china, where that's like a year's salary?
What are you talking about?
That's like saying 'common sense dictates we should all be able to have sex with whoever we want, and it's the healthcare industry's responsibility to make sure we don't get diseases'
Good points.
It's nice to see somebody showing these folks how to think, obviously military personnel don't get any training on how to do that as it is.
Like I said before, the countries of the world need to stop being on the defensive about these corporate strategies to control everything, and start drafting legislation that permanently puts a block to software patents and the like.
Even if the corporations don't win on this, they'll continue to keep trying. We need our own legislation in countries to keep unhealthy laws like this off the books- permanently.
It's great to see more multimedia stuff being worked on. Ease-of-use in multimedia is a big selling point for new users of Linux, from what I've seen when I show different distros to friends.
Maybe loving sex IS better, but you gotta admit, most sex going on out there is just people fucking.
That's not because of porn, that's because we're all just animals trying to satisfy an urge for pleasure.
I agree. It's also better considering that almost every offering by the cable companies have maximum upload rates of around 25kB/s.
I mean really, what the hell is a person going to do with that kind of an upload rate? For the same price you can usually go get dsl and have at least 75kB/s. Way better if you want to do fun stuff with your broadband like running a server, online gaming, voip, or p2p.
The biggest block to those things becoming a reality is patenting, licensing, and the actions of anticompetitive corporations that destroy good technologies to maintain their profit margin.
The guy's putting together stuff for the benefit of all of us, and all you can do is criticize? Who cares if he borrowed from the work of other people. The whole idea of open source is building upon the work of one's peers.
It's not what they've accomplished, it's how they treat people.

This isn't about campaign finance laws. It's about trying to silence the freedom of speech of bloggers.
Me paying for music at all is a priviledge for them and not a right. They want to control me? Fuck them.

That's because ms sucks. Get a clue.
Hope that helps to fulfill your prediction.

"... and little to no evidence that shows that Linux is gaining popularity on desktop PCs"
My desktop PCs now run Linux, last year they ran Windows. How's that for evidence?
Corporate propaganda hardly counts as research.
I'd just take their job and continue work on open-source projects anonymously, releasing stuff via Tor, I2p, or freenet.
Those freshmeat ratings are nice. Somebody should integrate that into Synaptic so you can see it when you're installing packages too, that'd be cool.

I hate to say it, but I agree. Damn, I hope that doesn't make me sexist.

Yep. Ogg Theora. That's a sweet little format right there, too. I wish more folks used it, cause it works real nice.
Man I wish I had some mod points right about now cause I'd definitely mod you up.
