On USENET binary groups you see lots of incomplete and degraded parts of data, but they're reconstructed with par2. Can't something like that be adapted to this situation as well?
Even if it's just an application that doesn't make their actions any less despicable. Destroying innovation of competitors so they can make more money, they should be ashamed of themselves.
I would think the villagers would prefer the means to bring themselves out of poverty through education over a bit of grain that will run out at the end of the year.
You can do all those things with downloaded movies playing from a networked computer in your living room through the S-Video output that's standard on most graphics cards, and plugging the audio output from the compy into any powered speaker setup.
That's how I watch all my favorite downloaded tv shows on my tv, it works great.
The folks who are riding the coattails as you say at least give support, which IS important. An inventor can't invent if he can't get ahold of normal everyday stuff like the tools he needs.
Bittorrent over i2p works very well at this point, provided there are a lot of people in the swarm of course, and works much better than i2phex at this point.
It's strange that these people on the internet2 haven't switched over to a peer-proxied anonymous network considering the only thing that's holding regular users from using the different emerging networks is the considerable bandwidth overhead, something that the internet2 users don't have to worry about.
"Last time I checked, my GPLd software did not grant me ownership of any of the itellectual property within the codebase."
That's just a technicality and you know it.
The only reason that you can't own that intellectual property is because they have to pervert copyright law into benfitting the public good, and it's only a means to an end, not some kind of endorsement of intellectual property law.
You don't know that she did anything, or that she's guily of anything, or her daughter for that matter. Can't we keep the opinions based upon wild guesses to a minimum?
Sure, why not? If I listened to RIAA music, I'd probably pirate it, then find the bands I like and just mail them a buck. That'd be like a hundred times more than they'd ever see, so it'd be all good. Less than legal, but who cares about what's legal when assholes like these guys own all the lawmakers?

Wow, this thing is pretty cool! It's working good, and it's a really fun app to play around with! Thanks Google!!
Just had to chime in, and say how much I totally agree with that sentiment.

Sad but true. Us Americans take for granted that which our forefathers gave their lives to protect.
Haha. That's brilliant.
What a horrible-sounding law!
I don't trust anything that comes from a bunch of liars like the BSA.
Who thinks that experimenting on one's children is pretty fucked-up?
It really was outstanding considering it was done on zero budget. Quite entertaining, I hope they make more movies.

"Like it or not, fair use will be a thing of past, in the years to come."
So what? Piracy will make up for it.
Only when caught in a lie. That's not fair or balanced at all.

The extension Flashblock works pretty good to keep this from happening.

Smart people adapt to changing situations AND do what they enjoy. It's not a difficult concept.
