So my question is, why isn't anyone doing something about your mom in laws behavior?
Why should they? If she has that much free time, and chooses to spend it on an activity she enjoys, which is in no way harmful to other people, why SHOULD she be stopped from doing it?
I think 'watching' is a gross simplification. Using almost everyone I know as a sample, the TV is white noise. It's on, but no one is watching.
The same cannot be said of video games.
Sure it can. The game may be on but paused, or, in the case of some games, it may be automatically doing something without anybody actively playing it. (Say, using a bot in an MMO for example).
But I've met women, attractive women, who couldn't get laid because their husband would rather play Star Wars or World of Warcraft all night than have sex. I understand having a hobby, even a passion, but being offered a blowjob tends to cut through the fog a bit, at least for me.
Besides, counting pure firepower, the US not only has the ability to totally destroy Iraq, it has the ability to destroy the world three times over.
I assume you mean wipe out most life on the planet? Because the US, or mankind for that matter, has nowhere near the firepower required for destroying the planet.
No one wants to spend $100 or even less for a computer and $299 for the operating system.
The average user doesn't seperate the cost of the two, they just buy the whole package for $399. As long as Microsoft has market dominance (which they will do for a long time), they can price the OS that high, and people will still buy it.
While you may prefer the electronic format, a lot of people don't, and thus publishers are still quite necessary. That's especially true with books (most people don't like reading several hundred pages from a monitor), but there's also quite a lot of people who want the physical product for their music and software as well.
It's sickening. I mean, they'll track all the sites I visit, build a detailed psychological profile of me, and then........put targeted text advertising down the side of my screen! The horror! Make it stop.
Not to mention that those ads might actually be about something you're interested in, rather than the usual generic ads. Absolutely terrible.
The personal data can be easily erased from the files. Just as easily as it can be overwritten with the personal data of someone else. Therefore, you can easily anonymize your files, and there's no way files in P2P networks with someones personal data in the tags could be used as evidence against them.
Take a look at the company that did Guild Wars/City of Heroes/City of Villains. They actually predate they have a much larger presence in Asia. A presence most of us here in the West rarely see.
That would be NCSoft, who publish those games. However, they don't actually make the games, Co(H/V) is made by Cryptic Studios, while Guild Wars is made by ArenaNet.
Huh? EQ2 is much more dependent on grouping. I mean, that's not a bad thing in and of itself, but WoW is the most solo-friendly MMORPG out there right now. And it even got moreso with the expansion pack.
I take it you haven't played City of Heroes (or Villains)? Apart for very few things, everything in those games is doable with a solo character, even on the hardest difficulty level, if you go for a solo-friendly build. WoW isn't too bad to solo, but it's not even close to Co(H/V) in that respect.
Sounds pretty much like a slightly more developed version of the badge system in Co(H/V) (Also seen in a few other MMO's as well, I believe), so I'd hardly call it unique.
You can download the GalCiv II updates even without a serial, but when you update the game, it changes so that the serial is required to launch the game. And there are very few games that are popular enough that the patches released to them are cracked, usually only the launch version gets a crack.
Religious people never change their minds. Or rather, those that do are called heretics, and up until recently were frequently burned at the stake.
How very american statement...
What you're referring to is known as Fundamentalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundamentalist_Chris tianity). While it is quite profilic opposition to scientific views in the USA, it is by no means the only way of thought for religious people.
Religion and Science aren't opposites, and don't nullify each other.
and that any nervous system with psilocybin in it is part of a collective nervous system of all beings currently 'on' psilocybin. I can't follow him there;)
The (first) Pokemon games are in fact quite decent RPG's, the childish aspect mostly from the TV show, and all the material built around the games, as well as the game sequels.
Pokemon MMORPG.
I'm being serious here. It's one of the most popular game franchises, and well-known to non-gamers as well. The consept and playstyle lend themselves well to MMORPG gameplay. All that's needed is to take the good stuff from popular MMO's, mix them together with the Pokemon brand, and you'll have a game that'll get ten times the amount of players WoW has.

But is it really that much different from marvel and DC universes? Apart for the fact that it's only a few years old, that is.

Who read "Indecent Game Sales Now A Felony" and thought they were going to completely ban sex games from being sold?

Then you obviously need to eat more mushrooms.
While it might not have been just one guy changing it, according to http://www.escapistmagazine.com/issue/48/7 Diablo was originally intended to be turn-based.
Would that be 'most' as in non-gamers? Because if you're a gamer, you'll want at least 1½ gig RAM nowdays, preferably 2, for XP.
Is getting rid of actors a bad thing, however?
New technologies have always reduced human workload, why should the movie industry be any different?
Who read that as indecent lightbulb?
