Thank you for saying what I was thinking. I was a very early adopter of Flickr, just converted to a Yahoo sign-in (which they've been suggesting you do anyway)when I received the email, and... that's it! I sign in with a different account name. No big deal.
Pretty inflammatory title for a Slashdot article. I got confused when looking at my RSS feeds and thought I was seeing Digg's.
I've always maintained that it's a measure (no pun intended) of how much power America still has in the world. One day the world will rise up and say in one voice, "No! Screw you guys! From now on everything we export to your country is in metric. Deal with it."
You tell me that now! Kidding.
Good idea, a little late for this particular interview, but something I've been meaning to do for awhile now. Now I have another reason!
I'm just worried about a line in the email saying "It is highly encouraged for you to bring sample work as this is an important part of our interviewing process. "
And you didn't dare ask "How will we apply what you're teaching in the real world?"
That was a quick trip to the principal's office.
Fortunately I did have a biology teacher who spent an appropriate chunk of the school year teaching the scientific method and how to apply it. And we did MANY a group project where we had to apply the method.
I'm one of them as well. But can I add to that? I don't mind seeing ads relevant to me, but I also don't want to see the same two ads over and over and over...
I can barely stand to watch anything on Comedy Central's MotherLoad anymore. Because, oh dear sweet baby Jesus, if I have to watch that Yaris break a piggy bank ONE MORE TIME, I swear...
While the world may not be as great in SOME ways as it used to be (but Utopia does not exist), I now appreciate that during school I didn't have to practice hiding under my desk for when the bomb was dropped or make sure my skin was the correct color for the drinking fountain I was about to take a sip from.
I will give you one honest way I've found myspace useful. I'm 26, out of school for a little bit. MySpace has been a great "no pressure" way to get back in contact with those people I haven't spoken to in a few years.
You know, there are those people you had some classes with, saw at parties, ran in the same general crowd, but never became close friends. With MySpace, you can just search for school/graduating class/etc. come across these people you hadn't thought about in awhile, and make them your "friend".
No need to have lengthy conversations, you don't even have to talk to each other at all. But it never hurts to have those contacts in case you're really bored one weekend/job hunting/whatever. Then you just leave a comment or send an email saying, "Wanna head to the bar this weekend?" "Oh, I see you work at Initech, could I give you my resume?" or just "Hey, remember that time...?"
In short, it's a great link to people you know but don't have the need and/or desire to talk to all the time. -

But keep in mind that Corel bought out Jasc and now owns Paint Shop Pro.
Just makes it easier to find if you want to purchase.
PSP is what I use, I love it and rarely find that I'm missing something I need from Photoshop.
I can't think of any uses other than the one time I actually did this:
I had a laptop. I upgraded the hard drive. The laptop got old. When I went to sell the laptop on eBay for $50 I popped the 'new' hard drive out and put the old one back in. Then connected the 'new' 2.5" drive to my desktop so that I had a spare drive, and so I didn't have to tranfer the data over.
You need to mark your screenshots as private, then email support and tell them to "review" your account. What's happened is that they've deactivated it because you've gone against the agreement you clicked Yes to when you signed up.
They'll reactivate your account and everything will show up... except things marked private (which they think should include ANYTHING that's not a photo).
Kids shouldn't be stumbling across it anyway. I their parents were all that concerned, they have the V-Chip (which was discussed earlier). And to move it to a later timeslot would have moved it out of primetime, which ends at 10pm in the Central and Mountain time zones (great for me... I can watch Conan an hour earlier).Kids to young to view it should probably be in bed by that time anyway.
It was good, the first two times they made it.
Pixar actually had a plan for a third Toy Story, that I suspect will now be made. Andy finally outgrows his toys, and they are sent to the attic... or maybe given away (I can't remember). The toys ban together and go off to find a new kid to take them in.
At the very least, it's more original.
I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.
I think the story was written because it was interesting, not because "OMG, What do we do about Space Trash?! Think of the children!!".
Interesting things happen in the world, that people might like to hear about. And so people tell them.
Just because people don't die or it doesn't affect the next big Linux distro doesn't mean it's useless.
And so the point of my other posts was..... I think this story was interesting.
That was all.
A car... no.
If flaming space debris fell from the sky a 20-second-walk ahead of me?
I'd be telling that story for years.
Well, depending on how fast they were going... only a 20-30 second drive I would think.

That's when we know we're f*cked.
My bank account takes those little remainders and puts them into another account. It's just like taking pennies from the tray.
You tell me that now! Kidding. Good idea, a little late for this particular interview, but something I've been meaning to do for awhile now. Now I have another reason!
Except they specifically told me not to bring anything proprietary.
Thanks, you (and everyone else here at ./) have been a big help. I think I've got enough to work with :)
I hope that's all they want. Thanks.
I'm just worried about a line in the email saying "It is highly encouraged for you to bring sample work as this is an important part of our interviewing process. "
I mean, what the hell does that mean?
And you didn't dare ask "How will we apply what you're teaching in the real world?"

You make a point.

Privacy and anonimity are not the same thing.
In those small towns of Wayback, the cops might've known you by name, but they'd knock before they came in your house.
Funny! So no plans after high school for you then?
Also, I should add that Facebook might be a better way to do this, but I was out of school before I could sign up. So, MySpace is an ok alternative.

Not that I'm a professional.
I can't think of any uses other than the one time I actually did this:

Other than that, I don't know...
Not exactly true.

The only thing you can't do with screenshots is search for them on flickr's site.
You can still link to them from other sites, use them in [img] tags on websites, etc.
You just can't use flickr's search box to find them.
So... what's the big deal? Does anyone really search flickr for screenshots?
Just like it's impossible to lead a normal life without a driver's license. But they aren't mandatory either.
Just another step.
