Hey, hey, hey. Let's not turn this into a "Who's dick is bigger" argument.
Especially since, when it comes to comparing who has the lowest Slashdot ID...
Well, you can finish the joke yourself...
At the university I went to, books were included with tuition. Sort of. At the beginning of each semester you show up to "Textbook services" and they hand you a stack of textbooks. At the end of the semester you took the books back. Of course, if you wanted to keep one, they just billed you.
As someone who plays video games and has written war simulation software, let me say that the two are VERY different.
One is very obviously created for entertainment purposes. The other is very obviously NOT for entertainment purposes. In fact, it's pretty d@mn boring.
Of course, they do have one thing in common: I doubt either has ever been proven to make anyone more likely to commit a violent act. And I doubt either makes someone more effective at it.
I just don't think kids will understand/care too much about how software is written. Just tell them you write software. Tell them software includes the programs they do homework with and games. Then rip open a computer and let them see the inside. You know their parents aren't letting them do that at home.
Thanks to everyone who is actually helpful and not just being an ass.
Yes, I do realize I can buy the electronics myself at what is probably a lower cost. That's not the point. I want to actually LEARN something. And smashing apart an iPod when I don't know much about electronics isn't really going to help me accomplish that (as fun as it would be).

Point taken. Although having a lower ID hardly means you've been around longer.
I wanted to be a game designer forever. Then I heard all of the EA horror stories. I'm glad I never went near it.
I have no desire to "claw my way" into a job that will make my life miserable
Neat that parks are labeled to, though: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=kearney,+mo&ll=39.36 9407,-94.362935&spn=0.003885,0.007308&t=h&hl=en

Very convenient actually.
So? Let them eat cake...
That makes sense, but...
...
2)
3) Profit?
Can they keep a cut of that transaction?
Could be. But hasn't that been tried several times before? Not that I'm doubting Google has a plan...
I guess I don't understand how they can do this without the money at SOME point being in their control.
I mean, what else are we looking at?
"With GooglePay you write a check directly to the person you're paying, then write another check for 3% of that amount to Google. Easy!"

Thanks...I'd been trying it with a match and a tree branch, but I can't seem to get the precision I need. Seriously, any suggestions?
