Douglas Adams himself mentioned that Mostly Harmless was too dark
He's still the one who wrote it that way. Tell me having Fenchurch simply erased out of reality, offscreen, into the screaming nothingness between the universes wasn't a big "stop bothering me about this" to the fans.
Also, the moon landing is a hoax, 9/11 really happened on 9/12 but the Pepsi bottling company wanted it moved a day to sell more soda so the fat cats in Washington fucked with the calandar to make it so (this is true, there have been several other diggdot stories proving it...), and Diebold stole every election since Hoover.
Personally, I really liked the first Fable. I think the fact that I didn't have an XBox, and only played it later on the XBox 360 helped. I avoided the hype and went in without any real expectations.
So he overhyped the last one. Who cares? Only fools buy into hype anyway.
Or because they have a 52" or greater television to watch on in the living rooms. Some of us even own whole houses where the computer and television are in completely different rooms! Imagine that!
According to our Unix team, there is less than a zero percent chance of data recovery after that dd command.
What does a *LESS* than zero chance mean? Is it some quantum thing? It's so well erased that it's gone beyond mere zeros and into a realm of strange probabilities and potentialities of data that never was or possibly could have been? Could all the results of the alternate decisions in my life be revealed by erasing my drive having someone try to recover it?
I have a hope that the Wii will bring about a revival of the adventure game. The Strong Bad game on WiiWare was a fun diversion, and the Sam & Max games are close to release on the console. The point and click format is perfect for the Wii.
I love my hard core games, but pointing and clicking through something fun and puzzley can be relaxing. A man needs variety.
Really? That sounds nice. Far better than politics being the diseased, psychotic brain fever that it is here in the 48 contiguous. I might add Alaska to my list of potential retirement targets.
I was watching some of the convention, with people in the peanut gallery enraptured by the highly orchestrated dog and pony show, or crying at the delivery of a speech that has 97 authors and gone through 400 drafts. And all the folks buying into the same promises and the same crap. I feel like I'm on an alien planet sometimes. I just don't get this shit.
First, we already state our nonpartisan policy clearly on our site, encouraging our members to check their ideology at the door and review the news with a neutral viewpoint.
Good luck with that. I realized long ago that political ideologies are mental illnesses of varying degrees of severity. Most people *can't* check their ideology at the door because it's too deeply entwined in their thought processes, such as they are, like some sort of alien brain parasite.
I consider it *worse* then religion, because I have seen far more people lose their religion than I have seen lose their precious political POVs. You just have to look at how similar political and religious ideologies are. They both think they have some sort of monopoly on the truth, deviations from the gospel are never accepted, they demonize the opposition and they tend to try the same failed approaches over and over while expecting a different result (which is a type of mental illness all by itself).
Pragmatism and realism are dead, dead, dead. Color them dust.
The California government is shifting it's "Chase All Business And Jobs And Productive People Out Of The State" plan into high gear. Do not be surprised by *anything* you hear out of the Sacramento State Asylum in the coming months.
Seriously, the situation in Sacramento shows the need for a failsafe where a legislature of absolute shitheads, entrenched by gerrymandering and backroom dealings between the parties, can be removed from office in the event of total and complete incompetence.
I watch this legislature in action, and I wonder why there people are not in mental institutions. And I am not exaggerating. Every time one of them gives a speech, they clearly exhibit the symptoms of complete dissociative breaks from reality.
Remember Bartertown from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome? That's California in ten years, but without the charm, civic sensibilities and Tina Turner in sexy post-apocalyptic outfits.
I'll just get one of those flipping license plates like Michael Knight had on KITT. That ruled!!!!
Those are legal, right?

Will this one be a another middle finger to the fans that kills off all the rest of the beloved characters?
I dunno... I used to build those "snap together" model kits. They really might want to consider going with cement.

You lie! It was Coca-Cola!
So someone will watch for "truth", but who watches the watch-
Ah, who cares... I give up. We're doomed.
Did Molyneux run over your dog? Why so angry?

I heard Berners-Lee will be facing off with The Undertaker in a three round cage match for control of the HTML standard.
black fart of rage
You win my "Phrase Of The Week" award. :-)
Mammal wired for tribal behavior behaves tribally! Virtual film at 11!
Or is SkyNet just fucking with us now?
Yes, I am.
I mean, yes, it is.

There was a demo on the XBox. After I played it six times I realized I should probably get the game. :)
Troll? It was an honest query that was answered by the OP. Are mod point being handed out only to registered psychotics now?

Oh. Geez, and I'm a big RPG gamer, too, although it's been a long time since I played one that had the CHA parameter.
This is just a female Dan Quayle that instead of golfing hunts, fishes and wrestles bears.
You had me at "hunts." :-)
With a sword? Please tell me she hunts with a sword. :-)
Unfortunately she does none of these things naked.
Ah, but there are over two months still to go...

I'm sorry, but a what?
Dear Slashdot,
You included *NONE* of my many hate mails in your entry on hate mail.
Damn you. Damn you to Hell.
Thank you for your time.
PS: Why is the text entry box for idle threads only about three microns wide?
Well, that has potential. After they appear, are they my thralls?
I especially like appendix B, or "Build Your Own Large Hadron Collider"
I totally have a project for this weekend!
Home Depot has extra large superconducting electromagnets, right?
