if i pay $250 for vista, and obtain my media through the zune store or other legal channels, there is still a chance that it will play in downgraded quality. if i download ubuntu and get my media through torrents, i have nothing to worry about. hmmm, i wonder which option i should choose
i use a small utility knife. cut around the border of the packaging, from the back, just inside the seam. you only need to cut through one layer of plastic, and only about halfway around. then you can just fold down the back and pull out the product.
how would freeing disney content from copyright help society? it is an iconic disney creation, exactly the type of thing that copyright was designed to protect. liberating academic materials containing ideas that anyone should be able to access would be much more beneficial to many more people
what if green day says to the kid: "thanks, i'm glad you like us, and we're really proud of this album. we just want as many people as possible to listen to it. we're already millionaires, so just enjoy the music, spread it's message around, and if you get a chance to buy our cd later, that's cool"
you don't need hygiene products, hygiene products need advertising. if you truly have a unique product, and there is a reason that a customer should buy it over a competitor, it is very easy to create a successful advertising campaign. if you are selling a product that really has no difference to a cheaper product, then you need to advertise
eg: if pantene pro-v didn't advertise, what would distinguish them from the half as expensive generic shampoo? hence they don't have any real content to put in their ads, so their ads will probably suck. if apple didn't have ipod commercials, the ipod would still be more stylish than the next best mp3 player, and yet i actually want to watch their commercials.
i completely agree. i took an introductory java course last year using netbeans, and enjoyed it, and learned how to write some decent code.
this year i had to take the same course over again due to some credit transfer screwups, and it was taught using textpad. i found that programming without the ide taught me to understand why my program was working, not just what keywords to enter onto the screen. also, programming without the help of any debugging tools is very helpful
yeah, just because the artists hate drm, doesn't mean they don't have to use it. i sent a nasty email to the trews, another canadian band, complaining about their new cd having mediamax. they sent me back a nice letter saying that they were just as pissed off about it as i was, and there was nothing they could do. sony put the drm on the cd at the last minute without telling them, and they had no say in the matter.
STFU
the reason that i stopped reading digg is that everybody on there cant stop masturbating over how they are better than slashdot. please leave that stuff on digg, and keep posting intelligent comments on/.
no one uses their messenger service? since when?
i think in the states maybe a lot more people use aim and stuff, but in canada msn messenger is really the only im service anybody uses
yup, it works for me. the hot new singles are the ones that are all over the p2p networks, while the golden oldies are the ones that are harder to find so i have to buy them
the pepsi challenge failed because most people could tell the difference, and picked pepsi because they thought it was the "right" answer, not necessarily because the drink they liked better.
exactly the advice i was going to give. i got through first year computer science with no computer for most of the year. bought a desktop a couple months ago, but you really don't need a laptop. If she really wants one, make her buy it herself, she will damn sure not get it stolen then

but not on a 64-bit operating system, or at least not a 64-bit version of firefox

i am a racist. i hate these people
i think it's pretty telling that even in a thread about woz, the majority of the posts are about jobs

that's what i thought of when i saw the headline. i'm really surprised it took this long for somebody to say it.
wait a minute. the small business survival comittee and microsoft cooperated on something? this does not make sense
