Every time I have installed WMP (9 and 10) the option is given during initial setup and is defaulted to off.
On the machine I am using NOW, it is ON... However this is an imaged work PC, and I will assume that someone, somewhere, decided to turn it on for whatever reason.
I don't think that's the case. It is one of the options that you can turn on/off during initial install (and change later at your discretion).
Although your suggestion would make more sense, I don't believe it to be the case. I have ripped several CDs through WMP with the option OFF and been able to move my music around with no problem.
I see a LOT of deragatory comments about the MBA as a degree. I think (especially for someone with a technical background) that an MBA program at a "good" school is much more difficult that we give credit for. My wife started her MBA last fall and some of the classes that she has had to take have been very intense. Even something as "simple" as the fist required economics class required LOTs of reading and studying.
Of course, there are still "communications" classes at the MBA level that are a cakewalk, but generalizing ALL business courses into one category is short sighted.
In any case, Home Depot is too expensive for my tastes. We have a local hardware and building supply store that gets the same quality for much better prices. Home Depot's EXPO design center is even worse.
I'd have to say that the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of users don't know there is an alternative. We had some friends over for a card game a few weeks ago and I was finishing up a paper in abiword. A friend of mine said, "Hey, that doesn't look like [Microsoft] Office.". I said, no and informed them what it was and that it was available for Windows if they wanted to try it...
He said, "What do you mean, 'available for Windows'? Isn't that what you're using?" I told him no, and quickly about what I was using (Ubuntu at the time).
His response? "There's operating systems other than Windows?".
Sounds like they took care of you pretty well. Did you have it in writing when the countertops would be ready? If not, they could have just as easily told you to go suck a lemon.
The last quest in a faction of the latest elder scrolls game has you looking for a traitor within the ranks. You find his lair -- containing several corpses, his diary and the severed head of his mother.
What's disturbing is the diary. Reading it, it gives insight into what happened... The traitor (as a toddler) hiding under the bed as his mother is murdered, her severed head hitting the floor and locking eyes with him, vowing revenge against the killer.
If (MBA level) management classes really only gave you that type of information:
A> you took the wrong classes
B> the institution through which you took the classes is not a very good school.
Don't drag plumbers into this! In my experience, they are paid well and have decent job security (and this will continue for the forseable future).

If you really do write professionally, why don't you break out the spell checker for your posts? I debated posting A.C. because I don't normally call out grammar and spelling errors, but your attitude leaves something to be desired.
I was thinking about this too, and what would (seem to) work for me, a la carte programming.
Wasn't congress trying to force this issue with the major cable and satellite providers? If I could choose to have only certain channels (each seperately priced) then I think I could personally cut down on my cable bill significantly. History Channel, National Geographic Channel, and Cartoon Network - I would gladly pay for these seperately so I didn't have to subsidize crap channels like Soap and E!.
...Having Superman fight crime indirectly by serving as the leader of a community task force...
Calvin: I've noticed that comic book superheroes usually fight evil maniacs with grandiose plans to destroy the world. Why don't superheroes go after more subtle, realistic bad guys?
Hobbes: Yeah, the superhero could attend council meetings and write letters to the editor, and stuff.
That depends on the 90% of the geography that you pick. How much of the U.S. (percentage geographically) is taken up by Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, North & South Dakota.... etc.
Leaving out the large population centers (New York, West Coast Cities, Chicago)....
I know that is not likely the case here because broadband coverage is obviously already pretty good in the large population centers, but I digress.
Lucite, not carbonite?

How may people actually get amounts of money where $5 bills would be the most appropriate denomintation?
...
$5 - jackpot!
$10 - NOPE
$15 - Becomes 30$ jackpot!
$20 - NOPE
Had you cheated, you probably would have had it right in the first place ;)
Child porography is already illegal, why make a ban on it on a specific medium? Also, how does the FCC have any say in this anyway?

He's dead, Jim.

It disturbed me, at least.

Unfortunately, I don't think your "rights" are the issue. ($$$$$)
Not that I disagree, but WINE is not an emulator.
Give it 36 hours.
I never knew that, thanks for the tip.
Interesting that as of right now, you have an insightful mod and he doesn't.
