  1. Lenovo or IBM ? on Does Your PC Really Need a SysRq Button Anymore? · · Score: 1

We already know that Lenovo are something of the fastidious scientists when it comes to keyboard design.

    Do we ?

The only noteable addition Lenovo did to the great Thinkpad keyboard layout was the reinsertion of the "Windows" and "Context Menu" keys which IBM had removed to the satisfaction of a huge number of users worldwide.

I agree and I'm not bothering either. Sure it works fine on my water cooled rig but I'm using two laptops and some old Duron systems as well. In these systems Windows 7 is from just slower to unbearably slow compared to XP, while XP still allows the old Duron systems to be used for Firefox browsing, text editing and word processing comfortably and securely (with the addition of Comodo & Avira).

As for bluetooth, there is always the Widcomm/Broadcom stack which is miles better to Microsoft's.

So, what's the point in Windows 7 ? A cooler UI ? I would rather play a game than stare at the OS UI...

This is extremely important to foreign language speakers.

I am currently engaged in wasting the time of a scam site by continuously asking instructions on how to pay with "Western UNION", how much euros the dollar is, how to explain to "Western UNION" that this is a legitimate transaction, what to do now, etc.

Consider using modifiers to your advantage.

I often find "Offtopic", "Overrated" and "Flamebait" to be more like "I don't like it". "Troll" is often funnier than "Funny". "Redundant" is usually OK but rarely used. So I am using a positive modifier to almost everything (except anonymous postings) and moderation now serves me to mark postings which were compelling enough for someone to moderate them.

  14. Re:Offline alternatives ? on EVE Online Battle Breaks Records (And Servers) · · Score: 1

That can be done in X3 as well (a frequent request implemented in TC was to let the game run in the background) but you have the option to let it run in 10x speed than normal. Which means that you reach your goals faster.

I have a second hand experience from a friend who is a dedicated EVE player; we gathered in his home to watch a movie a few months ago. It took him half an hour to finalize what he was doing before making himself available...

Gamers with a tighter schedule (work, studies, family etc) or a lagging connection to online servers should really consider an offline alternative that goes with their own pace and allows time speed adjustment. Without time speed adjustment (which is by definition incompatible to large online games) space games can be extremely time consuming.

X3 Reunion + Xtended mod (I didn't like TC very much) is a good alternative but I'd be willing to know more.

Thanks. SpamAssassin has saved a lot of time on my life.

I was using Spamcop and got a bit zealous on reporting so spammers flooded my email address out of vengeance. It was then when I learned that reporting spam to admins only works in a few cases while the majority of spam is sent either through botnets or from countries with relaxed or no spam laws.

SpamAssassin removed 99% of the spam without ever giving me problems of blocking wanted messages...

    Respectfully, thanks.

Warlords and warlike nations will always make war in the name of whatever catchy title on their times.

It was first recorded as a poem in the name of Love where the Danaoi would fight the Trojans,
or in the name of the Pact with God where the Hebrew would fight those who lived in the promised land.

It used to be in the name of Christ for a long time in the Crusades.

It worked in the name of Nationalism in the recent World Wars.

It came to be in the name of Social Justice where Russia invaded its own people and neighboring states.

Recently it is in the name of Freedom. As in "Operation Iraqi Freedom".

Neither Love, nor the Commandments of God, neither the teachings of Christ, nor the love of one's nation which knows no borders (see various diasporas) nor Social Justice, and definitely not the ideal of Freedom have anything to do with killings.

Rest assured that catchy titles will be changing in the future, but the wars will always kill innocent people and reward the killers.
