    Certifications matter if your company needs them to fulfill some contract obligation. Other than that, nobody seems to care. If your company works on contract basis with certain types of large companies or the goverment, it is probably useful to have certifications.

    No what they have is correct. The larger the fragment the slower it goes away from the explosion. Think about a bullet leaving a gun, the bullet is going much faster than the gun even though they have had an equal force exerted on them.

    Making money off patents casts you as a pariah in the business community. I think this company will be mainly used for defensive purposes. There are just too many legitimate ways for these companies to make money.

    The companies mentioned are not known for milking obscure patents. It could be defensive, if someone in their consortium gets sued they could pull stuff out of their portfolio to fight back with... IBM for instance is patent crazy but tends to use them defensively.

    I think times have changed. Applications are not going to go out of date so quickly and the need to mothball them will not be there. I think as the industry matures there will be a continuing demand for people to maintain and update existing systems instead of creating new.

    Yeah I think they are pushing a new general synthesis of an entire class of compounds, as opposed to fermentation tech where you only can solve one.

    Advertising is a type of evolution, some people make the ads to trick you into buying something (and profit) and others fall for it. Somebody is buying all those penis enlargement pills.
    99% of the crap you see on tv is no better.

    I would agree 100%. I think linux distros will just be another tool that enterprise vendors will be obligated to provide as part of their whole solutions.
    I wouldn't be suprised if Microsoft does this to remain competative.
