    they aren't saying this. they are saying that p2p users are mostly in a particularily naughty age group, and then relates all the other terrible things that this age group does. They didn't mention how many of them brush their teeth.

    I doubt that even the cell phone engineers know how to build a cellphone from scratch. Do you think the engineer could make a lithium battery or tantalum capacitors? Does this engineer know how to construct a cell tower? Can he write the ATM software for the network?

    I think it is a case of "the truth is in the middle". One day there will be a bunch of web applications as well as a bunch of client applications, wherever the tools are appropriate.

    Bacteria are used (commercially) to create any number of non-proteins. Tryptophan is one that comes to mind. Monosodium glutamate is also made with a fermentation process.

    Not much of the techonology has changed since saturn V. The fuel techology is the same, and considering the limitations of chemical energy unlikely to get better.

    I am glad that they are pursuing lunar missions, we need to prototype all of the non-earth colonization technologies, and what better place to harden the systems than on the moon. If things go bad it will be easy to return, where with mars it is not an option. The launch window to return to Earth may be a year or more.

    Many times people would have special plugins and configurations that they would need to share with others so they could open a file. If you had an aftereffects project you would send it to the other artist with your install. Back in the day, people would almost always send their quark install to the press, and that was how the print shop would print it. Probably one reason quark went down the drain, their copy protection is horrendously intrusive.

    Intel is protected by the same agreement that gave AMD access to the x86 technology in the 90s. AMD is suing INTEL for their unfair market practices.
