I wonder how big the netflix inventory is, not only do they have to have every movie out there, but they have to have multiple copies of it too.. thats a lot of DVD. Imagine financeing that? Did they buy them wholesale?
Can any slashdotter tell me why despite the fact that Katrina was known to be coming, and that it would be huge, there was so much devastation amid confusion without clear leadership? This is all part of the incompetence I mentioned above.
Ive heard these claims before. As long as you take care of your media it should be good to go for 10-15 years or more. The 5.25in floppies i have for my Apple][ GS still work perfect, and they are about as old as I am.

To celebrate their 2005 F1 championship victory, and the last race for the V10 engines, the Renault team persuaded one of their V10's to sing! The solo performance of the Queen classic "We are the Champions" was performed by one of Renault's RS25 V10 engines at the teams dyno testing facility in France.
RS25 project leader Axel Plasse, explained that making an engine "sing" is a fairly simple matter of finding the engine rpm that generates an exhaust sound of the right frequency for each musical note. The engine management system of the dyno is then programmed to manage engine rpm and duration to "sing the song."
Did anyone see that South park ep where towlie played the tune to funkytown on the keypad?? HOW do you do that..

No one believed me hehe.. I had a HP Scan jet, and when I unplugged the power cable, and held down the scan button, and plugged in the power cable it played classical music.. The name of the song escapes me but its quite famous. Try it!
What about blasting it into space using electromagnetics, like the new catapults that are going to be used on the next generation aircraft carriers... just larger in scale. I think space is the way to go if we can get it up there safely. Though my answer is flawed if the energy required to send up one barrel of waste, produces one barrel of waste.. heh..
Just because there are more Engr grads than you thought doesnt mean your son wont find a job. The US is apparently "hungry" for engineers. Thats why the companies are outsourcing in the first place. Wheather or not thats BS is another story. I personally think they are outsourcing just because their competitors are and to "stay competitive"..If there were less engineers you should be worried, because that means china and India are taking the jobs to a sufficient ammount to deter americans from persueing the field.
All this guy had to do was hang up the phone. If he got charged then he could dispute the charge with the CC company. There is *NO* way the seller has right to that money and its the CCC's problem after that point. The CCC has more time than resources than the average consumer and will get to the bottom of the matter.
Furthermore, as soon as a charge goes into disupute status, the CCC withdraws that amount of funds from the sellers escrow account. So if they want that money they are going to have to come get it.
Most of the people who are not making payments are poor people who cant afford to do so or con artists looking for a free ride (pun intended), not automotive electrical engineers who can bypass the elecronic ignition cutoff that this thing must be hooked to.
Could the experienced person tinker with this and get away with the car? Perhaps. I think its a good system. Its meant to be more of a pain in the ass than anything. I know of some dealers who install GPS signals into the cars they sell to their "good credit-bad-credit-no-credit-come-one-come-all" customers. No pay, they repo the car. The reciever is hidden in some crazy place like behind the dash so the customer will never find it.
Also remember that if the do go delinquent on their payments, and the dealer files the car as stolen... they are then commiting.. ah yes, gamers you know the words, say them wtih me... GRAND THEFT AUTO.
Seriously, us americans and other westerners should just butt out of other countries affairs. If the citizens of singapore care enough to rally for free speech, let them. It is not our place to prod them or lobby the gov to implement what we think is right. Rules are put into place for a reason as the parent suggests. We sitting thousands of miles away usually dont see the reason why these rules get put into place. If we want Singapore to change and have the freedoms that we enjoy, then its got to come from within, not from us or anyone else. People in other parts of the world operate differently than we do. Why cant we get that through our heads?
Every time.. we try and poke our noses where it doesnt belong we end up destabalizing countries or entire regions. Im glad singapore is turning a deaf ear on foreing pressure to change. Only they know whats best for them.
A close friend of mine's father used to be a cop in India. There the police are well known for their extremly brutal tactics but they almost always get the job done, and they get it done right. Those harsh methods are absolutly necessesary for keeping 1 billion people under control. Since western influence is slowly and surely creeping into their methods of justice, we are starting to see more heinous crimes being committed and other insanites of the west permeating to India. (Violent Criminals sueing the gov etc)
As long as mass genocide is not being committed or anything like that we should really keep to ourselves and worry about problems on our own soil first.
