    And that is to hire a bunch of Goons to threaten to break the users kneecaps if they don't , short of that nothing will change the way the average user will choose passwords.
    People like the easy life , and they hate passwords they can never remember(think they can never remember).
    Pass-ages would be better like for example "This is Grettas house , it has 100 cats in it. They like milk and beer and when you stroke them they go "Meow"
    Easy to remember , though a tad long .

    Either that hapens or more likely ,
    linux has an open source version of windows code to look at and linux becomes 100% binary compatible with windows.
    The free windows gets add'd too by the FOSS community and becomes on par with the pay version quickly .
    Regular windows is now uneeded and MS has to change its bussiness methods as it cant sell windows anymore.

    C and C++ each fill a void but those two voids all too often cross over .
    Also I guess its which of the two your more comfertable with , perhaps c++ would be a better all purpose choise , but if he has more experiance with C, it can more than make up for any short-commings.

    Dude you do know that those exist dont you ;).
    Well and if there is a direction you dont have then you can use a swing hatch type piece and make angles . .... Yes i do have far too much free time .
    The creativity comes from using those special bits for other purposes .

    Hell i just made a walking AT-ST with some mindstorms a couple of weaks back (i then changed it to the AT-AT as i was running short on legos)

    That comment had nothing really to do with C++ other than it being another language ,it was related to the hamering a nail with a screwdriver simile.

    I probably should have said
    You dont hammer a nail witha screwdriver , and you dont program a modern "First person shoot'em'up" in java.
    But the point remains the same

    C++ fills a rather difrent void and there is place for all , it really depends what you want. Right tool for the job as always applys

    He created an object oriented extension to C called C++(we call sun the creator of java and java is basicaly an extension to C also) , so he is the creator of C++.
    Creator is the correct word or designer , architect take your pick its all fine.

    They said i was crazy for keeping my old zx spectrum and mocked how i kept the origional box , well last year i sold that thing for a rather large ammount of cash on ebay .

    I hate to respond to myself but .. This would apply in Scotland(iirc , go to the baras in glasgow if you want an example), the police couldnt bust a seller of pirated DVDs etc(copys not stolen property) without a court order , i should note i am not sure if its under criminal law or civil in the USA

    Bribing the police is as american as Apple pie and rigging elections.
    (that was a joke)
    Seriously though It is the job of the police to uphold the peace and act when someone violates criminal law (or upona court order) so i have no idea why they would be prosecuting people who violate civil laws.

    Nope , this is why i said i would also show them how to install help files (html , text , etc) so they could understand how to use the command , you missed that bit .your right though ,the man pages are confusing sometimes( to a new user), but honestly i fiqured out most of the commands using them(many moons ago) , it wasn't easy but then, I lernt from the experiance .

    If someone treats you like that its because of one of two reasons .

    1: the person is a prat
    or
    2: You havn't actualy botherd to read the manual .

    If someone asks me for advice i will tell them some good guides to help them along when they exist , show them how to use man pages and to install help files and even show them how to search google for help ,if all else fails and there is no good help I just help them to the best of my abilities.

    If someone asks me how to untar a file i will tell them to Read the manual , as its clear they havn't yet or dont know how so i will show them , I wont be unfreindly about it unless they do it all the time , then i will give them a lecture about it.

    I agree entierly , I am from europe ;) so you can understand why im so up in arms . Alot of people do resort to the OMG rich freinds == evil argument which is just wrong , but in this case the guy i belive the guy A:) has the prior record , and B) has a strong conflict of intrests.
    I understand fully where you comming from though , and trust me ive done the same thing many times here myself .

    Easy to solve that , give them all a free copy of OOo will cost a tiny sum to have a few thousand copys of a disk with it on at a local CD plant(for lack of a better term).
    Try giving them all a copy of MS office and see how much that costs you.

    Well obviously you didnt read my comments on those events did you , as i think it should mean imediat dismisall.
    If he had dinner with linus i would find it equaly as unforgivable (although he isnt currently in litigation agains linus), so dont try to make this an issue of the BIG EVIL MS vs The good and valiant Linux , This is an issue of ethics.

    The simple reason i would want a trade commisioner who hears from the people not the big companys , Perhaps some trade decisions that would benifit the people of the EU not the companys and industrys .I dont have a problem with the trade commisionar talking to these people as you imply , i have a problem with him acepting a luxary crusie .

    I dont mean to snap , but this really gets my ire .
    The man has twice before been removed from office for sleezey behaviour and now a story about him taking a cruise with MS(remembering they are currently taking action against MS)

    Remember " A guy as powerfull as this" has been bought off atleast twice before(that we know of)

    so remember ,Talking to MS is acceptable but Acepting luxary vacations with one of the founders is a no no , and i hope i dont need to explain why.

    Again i apoligise , I dont mean to come off too agresive

    Just to end all all the "OMG YOUR WRONG" posts that have been occuring , I was meaning that with not the upmost seriousness (IE a joke).
    The moral and ethical thing to do as i mentioned would be to give the collection to a library(not local , national preferably) so the colection could be enjoyed by all , for the life of me i have no idea what intel wants to do with it, but i assume its not to put it up for display in the national librarys.

    I would auction them off at Christies with a starting Bid of 10K , let Intel fight for them as im fairly sure they could be worth a fair bit more than intel is offering as a colection and if not then intel gets them for 10 grand.
    Cough or he could do the moral and ethical thing of giving them to the local library for nothing

    Letter writting is acting ;) , problem is that is all most of us can do is write letters , Myself i do intend on standing for a seat as an MEP ..Unfortunatly i am a bit to young to really consider it ( 30 seems to be a good age to start).
    I still strongly belive in the power people have , and letter writting campaign do work if you make it clear that this can make or break a vote.

    If you recive 20k letters saying "we as your constituants , wish you to do blah or else we vote for the other guy " then politicans do listen (if your not in office , then its hard to get your bribes)
    this method has been missused by people before to push views on the general public , and whilst i shudder at that hapening i think this is the only way to realy get the publics opinions to stand up against the cash bribes .

    The key is to write one letter , not a stream of them(under diffrent names) as some groups do . Then we have done the right thing (mass mailing under difrent names to force an issues makes us no better than the Lobyists).
