    My money is on a non-binding resolution.

    The /. poll seems especially relevant. The US government is like Windows: it almost seems designed to work better with a reinstall every so often. However, this will not happen, so we'll just get more bogged down with spyware from the NSA and faulty antivirus from Congress.

    More crime = need more officers to combat this threat!
    Less crime = need more officers to keep it this way!

    Is it impossible that one or both of them knows a local musician who thought "Oh, cool! The president will hear my music!" and authorized the copy?

    Sounds like this guy is trying a wee bit too hard for publicity.

    The lake hadn't been there 30 years ago, as stated by grandparent. IIRC, we were to blame for global cooling about 30 years ago.

    Significant Human Interaction Theory, or SHIT:
    Back then, CFCs and other particulates caused the water to condense into a lake. Now your car exhaust has caused the water to warm and evaporate.
    Cycle of life.

    Can't they co-exist?
    I use an FM transmitter for a CD player in my car because I'm too cheap to buy a new stereo. Anyone who happens to be within its range, which is maybe 20 feet, is perfectly welcome to have a listen.

    I would like to see a little bit reserved for such non-licensed radios. I've gone through the presets on my transmitter, and the only interference-free setting in this town is 87.7MHz. When I travel, that changes. I know the only real way to get spectrum is to shell out, but it would be nice to have a small frequency range for low-power, low-range personal radios.

    Hopefully, if there actually WAS a difference in intelligence based on skin, it wouldn't be hushed for fear of sounding racist/nazi/un-PC.

    But it probably would be: being diplomatic is more important today than finding the truth, right? I'm not saying that there is or isn't a difference, but any findings that support one WOULD be disregarded and/or attributed to the white supremacist agenda.

    Most have not seen any proof of it.
    Most have an extremely difficult time understanding or explaining it.
    About half the people believe in it, and the other half are quite hostile.

    Is "it" evolution, or God?
    I think it takes about the same amount of faith, whether it's some powerful man in the sky or some incredibly slow, yet constantly happening biological process.

    I doubt that even very many of the people responsible for creating and interpreting the US legal system understand it perfectly. Not even blaming apathy or ignorance: it is pretty frickin complicated!

    In a rational world, that would be wonderfully democratic. The problem is inertia.
    In the US, at least, the Democrats and Republicans have come to rely on each other. One doesn't get into power on its own merits, but rather when the other messes up badly enough that the voters (apparently with short memories) think they'll do a better job.

    To implement that system would put most of those "public servants" out of jobs, and that's the one thing that both parties can agree to NOT let happen.

    Alternatively, it may have been that poking fun at Al Gore is like kicking a fawn with broken legs, and he feels sorry for the poor guy.

    Even more alternatively, it may be from a deep respect for the man who "took the initiative" in creating the internets.

    Or it could even be that after 10 seasons, he's come to expect more out of what is, in the end, a crude cartoon show.
