    It would be amusing if the Sumerian flood story, frequently assumed to be the source of the Biblical flood story, in its own turn was found to be derivative of a quite different story from far away.

    No doubt "behaviour influencing eveloution" will be seized upon by the intelligent design brigade. Though as usual the headline is misleading. Instead of evolution on one axis (e.g. speed) it's on a combination of various abilities (running fast/hiding/climbing/fighting) plus choosing the right strategy. If the rules of the game change, e.g. a faster predator comes along, what you see is what you'd expect - those adapted for running away (as opposed to the hiders, the climbers, the smelly chemical squirters) are now at a disadvantage; they're fighting the previous war. Nothing to see here.

    I don't know much about Citrix other than nobody seems to say anything good about it. But if encryption is what they want (or think they need) why can't a web based solution using https work?

    The point is that if you arrange the keyboard dependent on letter frequency, and that differs by language, then you have to have different layouts too. That's an added cost for the manufacturer, and probably a nuisance to users.

    It's the old principle that explains how QWERTY (or whatever) persists. Being better isn't always enough. When there's an existing standard, the new one has to be a lot better.

    No he wouldn't. For some reason a sports team is usually referred to as plural (Manchester United are [not is] winning), but military units are normally considered singular (The Spanish Armada was [not were] bowled over by Drake).

    Any individual should have the right to some basic privacy concerning his/her private life, regardless of whatever position they hold.
    Not if they use their position tell other people what to do in their private lives. Being a member of an organisation that does so is near enough the same.
     
    I remember a UK politician, Cecil Parkinson, who was always preaching about family values. He clearly practicesd what he preached, he valued families so much he had one with his wife and another with his secretary.

    If turnabout is fair play, hypocrites are fair game.
