... to see actual centre left political parties in action running countries you have to look overseas, Canada, Australia, England, etc.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. England certainly doesn't have a party with representation that is centre left, and even in Canada and Australia (NDP and Greens respectively) the parties are by no means major ones and certainly not in government. To really look for a centre left party you need to look to places like Sweden (Social Democrats, the biggest party there although not currently in power), but really, even in Europe there aren't any real centre left parties (let alone proper left wing).

About 2 months ago, I registered as an overseas voter. About a month ago, I received a "sample" ballot pack in the mail. About 2 weeks ago, I received the actual ballot pack which I filled out, put in the purple reply envelope, signed, and paid the AUD$4 to send it back (worth it for me).
Before filling out, I tried my darndest to find out as much as I could about local measures that I was able to vote on. I'm registered in California, but was disappointed at the lack of options for some seats I was voting for. I'll have to get back over there at some stage and see about changing that.
Overall, I know I'm going to end up being tremendously disappointed, but I'm happy to be involved in the process. And it's interesting to see how other countries do it.
Does that mean that Linux/BSD is like Ralph Nader/Cynthia McKinney? They're good, they'll likely keep their promises, and they'll be lucky to get a whole 2% of the marketshare/vote.
Libertarians do not support a corporate-run, completely unregulated economy! As far as I was aware, Libertarians do support the free-market, which is effectively an unregulated economy. How can you ensure an economy is not corporate-run, or at least in-part corporate-run by making it unregulated?
Therefore, in a real free market, producers bear the cost of the societal problems they cause (pollution, etc.), rather than that burden being borne by the taxpayers. Sorry, but this happens how? How are the producers forced/encouraged to keep pollution minimal, or to clean it up?
Indeed, and when there are 'trials' like David Hicks who is locked up for several years without being charged and has only been brought back to Australia and released BECAUSE of public opinion, it would just get scarier - with this no-reporting-until-the-case-is-over shebang, he'd still be (I'd argue unfairly) in Gitmo.
I would have argued that the ISS is part of military expenditure, particularly if Saddam actually has built a WMD factory in heaven disguised as a chocolate chip factory.
Isn't this what the Senate is for? Every state gets two Senators so that no one state can obliterate the other? Is there a reason the other house to also have this disproportionality? Surely one should be a check for the other. It's how it works down under where I am.
And don't get me started on why you guys (and us too, for that matter) should have more proportionality.
You think you had problems. Every time I'd be in a position to do a "spinning side kick" with Chun Li, I'd say "check" and wait for their counter move. Everyone always had a counter move.
Counter 5 Heat the ring up to 1338 degrees so that it can then be easily worked off the finger without needing to worry about injuring the finger with ungainly 'ring cutters'.
What about sturgeon? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isinglass
You just had your release. I'm afraid you'll have to wait another 15 years for the next one.
If you're in the US, your gas prices are so freakin' low that you SHOULD be charged per km (sorry, per mile).

Increase the price of gas, or charge per mile.

Not to mention the satellite connections are quite high-latency whilst being high-throughput so great for leeching but not so great for VoIP.

I'd say if you had a 10 year old '88 model car in 2006 selling it would be the least of your problems (or financial boosts).

I don't see how the former can be anything BUT productive, no matter what else is happening 'while'.
Really? Crap! How do I unmod +1 funny?
It took you an hour to write that? Even assuming half an hour for breakfast, that works out to be, like, 2.533 wpm.
