The reason that we don't have spelling and grammar checkers built into the OS is because it is assumed that anyone who can afford a computer has already passed a level of advanced education and literacy. However that isn't true since computers are now so cheap and widespread that they are used regardless of level of academic compentency.
We do already have OS built-in spell checkers. Check your facts, please. (hint: Mac OS X).
what feature will I get that I don't already have in Mac OS X 10.4?
I skimmed the list rapidly and I'm already using the equivalents to at least half of them, probably more (I wrote "skimmed"). Some of the features I have even used for several years...
Uhm, that would be ALL of the source code in this case. Actually Microsoft is making at least parts of it available to OEMs after buying Platform Builder. Under NDAs, of course.
I think there is some kind of guideline for the Windows start menu that says it should be company name/product name. Stupid? Yeah. Why can't they learn from most of the Linux distros? Everything sorted in folders by application area instead of company name...
Well, than compare it to my boss's Saab 9-5 Aero, although it's a new car instead. It easily beats your values.
Actually, the power of the motor really hasn't that much to do with things, the important factors are motor efficiency, vehicle weight and the amount of air drag. The only factors of these influenced by having a larger motor, is partly vehicle weight, and partly, motor efficiency. This will make your mpg go down somewhat, yes, but not enourmously so. My boss's Saab 9-5 Aero (which, IIRC, has MORE hp than your car), can easily beat your numbers too (instead of just being comparable to them). At least when I drive it (my boss isn't really a careful driver...).
The really big factor in mileage actually is vehicle size. Big SUV = high vehicle weight = low mileage. Basically, unless you're towing trailers every day the hp rating of the motor really doesn't matter except when accelerating (that is, like max 2% of the driving time?). I am nowhere near using the full potential of my Volvo's 130 hp - and that's (in my eyes at least) a big heavy car! I've driven cars with two thirds as many hp, but only a third of the weight, and boy, did they accelerate... (if you aren't into mechanics - same power can be used for accelerating a big mass slowly, or a small one rapidly...). A LOT of gas could be saved by just teaching USA to drive normal-sized vehicles instead of SUVs...
At least in the OS X version, commandclicking (and probably middleclicking as well, but I haven't got a mouse connected) the back button solves this problem nicely. I would guess that middleclicking the back button works under other operating systems as well. So just click "reply" first, then middleclick the back button.:)
Well, I can build logic out of NAND gates as well. Or transistors, if that is what you want. But in that case, it would be circuit design, and not really a programming language (ie where the discussion started).
If you insist on counting like that you already lost...
Swedish, English, German, Spanish,
and the ones in the category you counted but I didn't:
Object Pascal (Delphi), Java, 6809 Assembly, Omron Ladder, Omron Mnemonics, C, C++, Ada, C#, Matlab, AutoMod simulation language and last but not least, a little bit of basic VHDL...
Christians would be mad if there was gross violations of their 10 commandments that went unnoticed in other parts of the world.
I'm christian, and the only commandment I would be really upset of being broken far away is the sixth. I agree in the rest of them, but they act more like rules for me to follow to keep the world nice and cosy. And anyway, Jesus put it far better with the golden rule...
Also please note that breaking of commandments 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10 in no way are considered a legal crime in the West - only possibly a moral one. And that's four ones even excluding the first three, that really only are about man's relation to God.
In fact, for me the golden rule is a very good reason, with religious grounds to be for free speech (including satirical cartoons like the ones in Jyllandsposten). I wan't to be allowed to tell the world my opinion - therefore I have to allow the world to say its opinion - even if I won't approve of it.
The middle east used to be (one of?) the biggest export markets of the Danish-Swedish company Arla Foods, the biggest dairy company in Scandinavia. Up to 11000 jobs at Arla in Denmark are endangered because of this - that's 0,2 % of the population!
There is also an incomplete list at Wikipedia. Specifically notable is MÆRSK - the company that owns huge amounts of container ships all over the world. And BangOlufsen, LEGO, Grundfos, Danfoss...
Uhm, there's at least SOME support for refactoring, at least in the version I'm using. That's part of the reason I like it actually... Are you implying that it's not as good as the refactoring functions in Eclipse et al? Please clarify what you mean...
Damn that i burnt all my mod points this morning. This is EXACTLY what I'm doing right now, as part of my master thesis. For all the Swedes out there, that already have some programming skills, I would strongly recommend reading Anders Forsberg - Programmering i C#. It concentrates on the parts making C# different from other languages and cuts the crap out. Add to that some kind of.NET Framework overview book, and you should have what it takes to get at least decent on your own.
Also, Visual Studio isn't a good IDE - it's a great one (especially compared to some of Microsoft's other software offerings). And I'm usually in the *nix crowd. Possibly vim or emacs are better, but they have a really high entrance barrier...
Also, using a wiki (which has the purpose to make coediting a document easier) seems to be a very silly tool to write an autobiography, a document that by DEFINITION is only written by one person...
Why not just deduct the rebate at the cash register? We all know that's doable. No, their dream is to extract from each customer the maximum personal price. Those willing to pay full price do, and those only willing to pay a lower price get it. Willingness to do senseless work determines who falls in what camp--it's just like coupon clipping.
This is exactly how it works in Sweden already. If there's a rebate, you give the rebate coupon to the cashier, and you get the price deduction immediately.
The only company NOT doing like that, that I can think of, is Apple, normally with iPod + computer campaigns. They demand mail-in coupons, and people have had quite some problem getting their money from them as well, at least from a Swede's view (with their dumb policy that the rebate should be mailed in within 30 days from order, including EAN code from the package, you're asking for trouble when the company often can't deliver in 30 days...).
Oh, there are some more examples - the stores that just don't bother with rebates at all, and just lower the prices (although they sometimes set a limit on purchased items at the low price per customer)...
Already today there are some cars running on either fossile gas, biogas or electricity, and they should still be usable.
The bioethanol ones won't, however. They use 15% petrol.
And the majority of the cars sold are still petrol ones...
Actually, I'm in the political party in Sweden who wants to ban sale of new petrol cars (except flexifuel bioethanol ones) somewhere between 2010-2015. And I still don't think it is at all possible to abolish petrol usage until 2020 even with that schedule. Actually I drive a 20 year old car myself (student economy, don't drive much). So does my father. My mum's car is only 17 years old... Even though I will have a enviro-nice car in 15 years, I'm pretty sure that the petrol cars (even excluding veteran cars) will still be used by then.
You can't actually have more than one file with the same name on the Commons. A new one with the same name would overwrite the old one. So in this case there would be 1001 pictures, and the one called "hello.jpg" would have been overwritten 98999 times...
The non-free files referred to are basically just all the project logos. All of them can be found here
The only other exception I can think of is the spoken version of GFDL, as absurdly enough, GFDL itself isn't GFDL compatible (modification isn't allowed)...

Just so you know it, thank God bin Laden decided to hit WTC and not a nuclear plant...
The first combustion engines were built for (m)ethanol although petroleum already was available. Please check your facts.

28 mpg is laughable. That is comparable to my 20 year old Volvo! (And Volvo have never built really efficient cars)

No, the just computer generated it. A couple of fellow students of me at Chalmers University in Gothenburg, Sweden, did make a transformer, though (warning, MOV video file link).

Bah. I'm trilingual (3 1/2 actually if I count as you do, I only really count the languages I'm fluent in). And I play video games, too... ;-)

Unless you offer the neighbour to pay half the internet bills (or fight malware once per month, or whatever), and he likes the proposal...
Aren't babes (technically) people too?
